Hi all,

I have had my Samsung S2 for a while now (3yrs). My usb port is giving me problems - i cant charge my phone at all or connect any USB cable to it. I don't wanna give up on my beloved S2 just yet (my first smartphone and i like the size of it) :)

Does anyone know where i can get the USB connection port/board needed to fix this problem (I'll do all the repairs myself - i like opening gadgets)

Thanks :D

Same thing happened to my Wife's Note 1, she thought the phone's connector wasn't working so she kept fiddling with the connector, and in meantime the cable was to blame, so all the fiddling with the connector caused it to break the pcboard (flex - not sure but I believe is the name of the pcboard) ... to fix is between R350 - R600, I have to be honest... the phone was never the same again :(

Sometimes charges, sometimes not, problem is that this type of pcboard is quite rare (or so i been told)

When I replaced the USB port on my GS2 I ordered the parts from phone extreme. It's very easy to repair as well.

I also had a problem with the USB port on my old S2. The phone would think it's charging without the phone begin plugged in, causing it to run at high clock speeds all the time and draining the battery in a few hours.

I used this as replacement, and haven't had any issues since:

If you're feeling adventurous can can get a loose USB port (also from PhoneExtreme) and solder it on the old flex cable, saving about R60, but I wouldn't recommend it.

You have to be very careful when opening the phone to not break any ribbons or lose any parts, but you should be able to fix it yourself in about an hour. Also, look for YouTube videos on opening the phone - don't try to figure it out yourself :)
