Becareful who you give to repair it. Mine on a S8+ came to R8400.00 which was covered by my insurer however those clowns forgot to reclip the antenna, which resulted in no signal and the battery working extra hard as the phone kept scanning for signal.

They valued the phone at R18 000 and some odd rands at the time and decided its cheaper to repair vs replacing. I had 2 hairline cracks running towards the bottom of the screen.

Had mine done at WeFix just yesterday.

R3499.

All other quotes I received were higher.

My screen is smashed and still using it. Mobile Care refused my claim alleging I skipped one payment but debited my account for 4 months after the skipped payment.... :wtf:

So no insurance the cash price is about R3500.

I have done a few screen repairs in my time so getting one from aliexpress. R1400 for screen and R130 for new glass back cover. Wondering if I should do the battery at the same time.

Anyways not genuine screen but a good replacement screen. Pitty SAPO is taking ages. Waiting 1 month now already.

This is why I use cases all the time. I'm very clumsy with my phone. Dropped my s8 several times (minor drops) - not a scratch (touch wood).

Same here. Including tempered screen protection.

Unfortunately mine took a tumble from my jacket pocket and hit just at the right angle in the top right corner to give me a nice spider web shattered screen.

Luckily touch still worked perfectly until I could get it replaced.

The S8 has a pretty decent screen actually. Mine fell half a meter and whole piece of glass came with like 6 spider cracks across the screen. They were sharp but I flat them with a 2000 waterpaper and polish the screen and now it's better until I get it replaced.

My second one a friend let it tumble down the stairs. Smash front and back and a piece on the bottom left of the LCD is even black not displaying anything.

Both phones still working fine. :D

i looked at that. but the replacement process is just insane.
i'd undoubtedly do more damage if i did it myself

Not better to just import your own screen and then taking everything to someone to fit for you?

If you are going genuine you are looking at R4000+ for screen and fitment. If you take it to a shop that replaces the screen like the cellphone shops or repair shops not approved you are most likely getting a Chinese replacement screen anyways and probably also going to pay R2800+

Cheapest guy I got to fit the screen for me was like R2800 and it was a Chinese replacement anyways so yeah no I decided to import myself and install it myself. The replacement screen comes with a 3M adhesive template too so won't be hard to fit.

What's the story with the adh, I dont have the original proof of purchase. I saw that you need it, is there any way around this,

If you got it on contract the cell shop where you got it from will be able to reprint the invoice. Without it Samsung will politely tell you to ...... yourself
Bought it off carb...I will try track if I have anything

Samsung does not offer ADH from the S8 onwards.

BTW Samsung wont even cover warranty without POP - had a chat with them re this just yesterday.

Whilst we on the subject, had my screen replaced at a Wefix and then used it once in water, now it wont turn on.....am I supposed to know that the phone is not waterproof post repair job? It was done through an insurance claim.
