Has anyone received their refund from SARS after a "special stopper" was placed on acc?

Nope, my audit was completed on the 29th of July. Have taken my documents into the branch on 5 occasions since then. Seems there really is no turnaround time. I have lodged a complaint with the tax ombud.

According to a auditor there it can take up to 90 businesses days...

They should probably communicate that to us tax payers instead of telling us there is no turn around time. Although, it would be difficult to justify a 90 business day turn around time to verify banking details that were already verified and valid.
 
Great... for the first time I am not getting money back but rather owing them money (9 cents). Do I need to pay them such a low amount?

If memory serves, SARS won't pay out unless it is more than R10 or something along those lines.

EDIT: read that wrong
 
How about VAT refunds? They are now 2 months behind....supplied my docs the same day as I got my audit email....
 
Grrr after almost a month they want :erm:

- Kindly furnish a letter from your employer confirming the determined value of the motor vehicle used for the tax year in question as well as the calculation of the use of motor vehicle fringe benefit against which you claimed.

If anyone is interested I received my refund on Saturday. I suspect it has to do with the complaint I laid with the tax ombud.

I think I should start escalating mine also as this is ridiculous. I dont need the money now but this is taking way too long.

Got request for docs letter again on Friday. Hand delivered them within an hour !!!! (sadly took 2 hours to get number .....)

Yup, took 19 working days. Special stopper removed after 16 working days and payment made at 20 working days. In this case bank account details had to be verified which was the cause for the special stopper.
 
I am in shock, I received my refund last night. Only 7 days after special stopper removed.

Everyone getting VAT refunds is getting jack-hammered. Ours was 3 months outstanding last month until they paid 2 of the 3. They are fast becoming another parastatal.

Submitted docs as required .... and nothing, no how do you do, nothing .....

The wait for me has started.
 
Im still waiting, from the 12th of July. It was escaled 2 weeks ago, still nothing.
