Does anyone know if this is true for all government departments where the employees' tax forms (IRP5) are seemingly being withheld by the departments that they worked for during the tax year which now prevents them from being able to file a tax return?

Well, obviously my mothers department isn't affected... ;)

Here is my question, i submitted my return for this year and they said they would refund me R16K , then asked to audit me and submit documents which i did, then they came back and said that i also owe a fine of R500.00 for not submitting in 2008 and 2009. I paid the fine yesterday just so thats sorted out. What happens now to my refund they owe me for this year?

hey guys,
My wife had issues last year with tax returns, and eventuallly after many weeks it was resolved in an office and she got her returns.

This year it seems to be an issue again.

When creating her eFiling account, it advises that her details do not match those on record, however no further information is given.
We then continue with the registration, and now she has an account, but no pending return to submit?

Any ideas or recommendations?

So I got chosen for audit. Auditor called requesting a recon of my Irp5...requested this from our HR department in head office on the 6th. He keeps saying his busy and will work on it. Called him on Monday..said he found that he made an error on my IRP5 and re-submitted 4 days later Sars as still not received the IRP5 and he hasnt even sent me the new IRP5. I have no idea what to do...Sars has given me 21 days to get this sorted out but surely i cant be blamed if my company being incompetent

Go to a sars office.

In fact that's probably good advice for at least half the queries here. For the moment at least, sars offices are generally well run, very helpful, and don't require a day off work to visit.

I completed my return Monday morning and received my payout yesterday. Second year in a row it's gone smoothly.

Did anyone receive feedback regarding the RA and pension fund contributions that should have been carried forward from the previous year?

If it was not done you need to dispute the assessment. I explained why this happened earlier in the thread.

So they say the objection is invalid but they have corrected it?:erm: :wtf:

Obviously it was not allowed as per screenshot but they corrected it anyway.

Now I requested a correction, and the calculator now shows the correct amount but I cannot file the new correct ITR12 because:

No new assessment after correction:

So phoned SARS and they said I must now log a new dispute for not being able to submit (can't because all data still the same) the correction of the ITR12.

Guess you will have to phone them and ask them what to do. Choose option 3 for tax queries.

I just got a second assessment, with a different refund value. The original refund has been paid already, and this amount is considerably more than the original assessment. Technical glitch? Can't think where the additional refund would come from...

Yeah but that, I assumed, was covered with the initial payout, which is the only component I usually ever get refunded on.

Well, lucky me, now selected for auditing, so just submitted the supporting documentation, will see what comes of it.

Called a Reduced Assessment, btw.
