So phoned SARS and they said I must now log a new dispute for not being able to submit (can't because all data still the same) the correction of the ITR12.
Has anyone else had feedback from SARS on their disputes regarding RA contributions which were not carried forward? Did this lead to a resolution? I have lodged a dispute and uploaded all supporting documentation on 4th July 2017 and so far have heard absolutely nothing...

Overnight something happened, so log in and see if you have a new Notice of Assessment showing the other correct amount they should pay out. My moms profile has 2 Notice of Assessments now, the second one reflects the carried forward RA from last year (and even a small bit carrying over to next year) and the amount they had already paid out to her earlier this week, and the amount they still need to pay out.

The below quotes covers what happened. Overnight I filled the correction (my mom had put in a incorrect RA policy number anyway, so I corrected that and could submit).

This morning I had a request to upload documents for review and audit.

So they say the objection is invalid but they have corrected it?:erm: :wtf:

Obviously it was not allowed as per screenshot but they corrected it anyway.

Now I requested a correction, and the calculator now shows the correct amount but I cannot file the new correct ITR12 because:

No new assessment after correction:

Wait? Can they do that? You're only supposed to keep things for 5 years? How are you supposed to keep everything for eternity.

Yes they can. 5 years only applicable for returns submitted (i.e once SARS has has sight of if). Returns not submitted when they should have been can be requested for more than 5 years

Interesting one here....wife worked part time 2004 to 2014. Always paid below threshhold. Visited SARS twice to confirm no need to submit form. Was all OK in 2014 when she claimed UIF .
Suddenly yesterday she gets notice of a fine of R2500 being 10 years @ 250 for not submitting a form !!!

Did she earn any other income apart from the her salary (like interest income that is more than the interest exemption, rental income, travel allowance, dividend income etc) ?

If she did, then she should have submitted even though her total income was below the threshold.

That fine is calculated at R250 a month. Contact the contact centre to determine which return is actually outstanding.
Have it open .9 transactions. ITS o/s balance. Not even in order,15,07,11,08,13,12,10,09,14. 250 per year. Total 2250. Transaction date all 11/7/17. Due dates all 10/7/17??

I got an assessment on the 4th showing me they owe me thousands which they paid, suddenly there's a Reduced Assessment where they owe me just under R200?? The amount they paid is consistent with what they paid me last year based on my medical aid and RA contributions. I requested a reason for the discrepancy between original and reduced assessments.

Just read through and compare the 2 assessments, you will see where difference is. Probably a small amount of previous year RA contributions that was not carried forward.

But what does that mean it mean for me given they have already paid me based on the original assessment?

And they might pay out that R200 too (if it is above whatever their threshold is.

They owe my mom 60%, they only paid out 40% originally.

Can anyone tell me how long it tackes for the verification/audit after you have submitted your documents on efilling

Was on the phone with them on Friday. I got a 2nd one last Sunday and wanted to follow up as it took 2 or 3 days last time. The lady said it can take up to 30 days.

Only strange thing she saw was that it shows that I didn't file for 2010, 2011 & 2012. Which I actually did. Took me over 6 months in 2015/2016 to sort it out last time due to an issue on their side... I have all the paperwork etc. for that mess.

Thanks for the info - I logged in and didn't see anything yet. Hopefully next week I'll see something ...

I too received a SMS this morning saying that I received a reduced assessment to the value of 5k, thing is I already received my refund of 10k.... I don't have any RA's...not selected for verification or audit and no docs required.

So is this a glitch or should I expect another refund.

I find it odd, because it is larger than what I am used to getting....

If you can exactly calculate what your refund is (e.g. medical aid rebates) and the amount is now clearly wrong, I would rather report it to them if I were you, because if you get money that's not really yours, and they fix their calculations before next year and they find this mistake, you'll get back less next year.
