I find it odd, because it is larger than what I am used to getting....

It's not only RAF contributions that gets carried forward. It could also be pension or provident fund contributions. It all gets combined into one deduction from 2017. It seems SARS took a decision to fix the carry forwards and issued a bunch of revised assessments. Pity they don't tell their trench workers about it.
 
Ok now, so finally I can calculate on efiling this morning but in order to view the result I must have a later version of Acrobat.

So I download latest version, installs, restart pc. Still SARS wants latest version in order to view calculation results

Question... browser you are using? I use IE and haven't had problems.

Disable Chrome plugin for Adobe. When you do this right, Chrome will download the PDF and not open it in browser. Only when the PDF opens in Adobe directly will you be able to read it.

Chrome but got it fixed. Had to change settings in Chrome to allow websites to run FLASH
 
Got hit with a huge 2nd 2016 assessment. Thought they were late as usual and so did not worry about assessments.
Turned out they were using my old email address.
Only knew about it when I got a SMS.
Paid them but it did not go through. Their new system is very ****ty.
Interesting week ahead.
 
Also received a second assessment over the weekend. Would be interested to see what feedback you guys are getting from SARS.

So
1. I submitted on the 3rd (calc said I was to get 2k back).
2. Got an email from the HR / Payroll office on the 6th to say not to submit as they had made some mistakes and resubmitted IRP5s.
3. On the 10th Sars paid out my 2k.
4. On the 14th Sars let me know that there is a new IT34 - Reduced Assessment
5. Value on new assessment says that Sars now owes me 3k.

Question is... will Sars now pay me the difference = 1k or the total of the new assessment = 3k?

5k in total probably Your Notice of Assessment will show the previous payment in the calcs, just above the new total owed.

Do people not go through these Notice of Assessments?
 
Luckily I could get hold of my old 2010 IRP5 from the old company.
Now I have a question regarding the PHYSICAL ADDRESS details section.

Do I enter 2010's details as on the IRP5, or the most recent?
 
I submitted my tax return last night and SARS say I owe them R11250 :(. I'll lodge a dispute and go to their branch to find out why I owe them that much.
 
So my previous employer owes the accountants money, so they won't do our IRP 5s. Not looking like this will be resolved any time soon.

Any suggestions? I want to submit and be done with it.
