In the first page, there is a question about medical expenses covered by yourself, and on one of the pages there will be a section with the amount not recovered by a medical scheme

But make sure you have every little slip for everything, that will be flagged for verification

This year and all previous years, my out of pocket medical expenses have all been on my Discovery Medical Aid Tax certificate. I have been selected for verification every year, including today, and they accept Discovery's word - never needed to submit slips.

Of course, out of pocket not reflected on the Medical Aid certificate would require supporting documents like slips etc...

I have the receipts, I kept them in my office drawer specifically for this :)
 
I was chosen for verification with request for uploading supporting documents. Due a few bucks.

Uploaded and then requested amendment. Have to pay in a few pennies. But now no audit or verification.

Questions:

1. Statement shows pennies due being deducted from few bucks so no need to pay it
2. Does this mean no audit or verification at all? Or is first assessment still valid ito audit. The refund due still valid and statement of accounts show it minus small amount due as result of change.

FYI change due to rates billed vs amount actually paid. I originally declared amount paid for rates and not amount billed by municipality.

New SMS this year "dear taxpayer with tax number xxxxxxxxxx, regarding case number xxxxxxx, please remember to submit the documents by the date stipulated in the letter" or something like that. Never saw/received one of those last year. It relates to the verification and their request to me to submit supporting documents
 
SARS has requested some additional documents from me because my wife's medical aid where she is her own principle member comes off my bank account.
They want an affidavit showing our relationship.

Wouldn't our marriage certificate adequately show our relationship?
I have queried this, just waiting for a reply - and will follow up with a phone call if there isn't a reply soon.

Now sent a letter through efiling - another reminder to submit the documents. I have already just after 1:30pm today..

Anyone else who is selected for verification get this sms and letter reminder?
 
Got the following message. - "
Please note that your return cannot be processed immediately as there are certain aspects of your return that require manual intervention. 9863 – Outstanding recognition of transfer. All IRP5 on ITR12. How long does manual intervention take? Return only filed. Thank you
 
I submitted my return and SARS say I am due a refund. Woohoo:)

Not selected for Audit, but refund date shows 31 Jan 2019. Eish.

Got a statement of account. Hopefully means getting paid.

My wife's statement of accounr shows refund 3 July 2018.

Having submitted supporting documents, did you get a verification result letter from them?

That message is linked to the outstanding tax directive.

You should still be able to file the return, you will however get a message saying that your assessment cannot be issued and that it will require manual intervention by SARS, and that SARS will contact you when they are done (I have no idea how long this might take).

So you can go ahead and file the return OR you need to ask your Employer to contact the administrator of the transferee fund (the fund where you transferred to) so that they can file / apply for the necessary tax directive from SARS. Once this is done the message should disappear and then you can file

As a matter of interest, when was the benefits transferred from the original retirement fund to the new retirement fund (did it perhaps happen after 28/02/2018) ?
