Nope, there is a potential for human intervention, it might be that you refund payment has been selected for audit
 
A few posts still suggest theres a mismatch between the SARS-Backend(Real Sars) and the Taxpayer and his E-Filing link to SARS.

I have seen this before where a company buys some IT Software to do a job(s), but because of cost do not buy it fully as originally designed. Then few years go past and new measures are implemented. By this time the engineers originally involved from source is gone and moved on, they had a deep understanding. Now you run into problems where the Service Provider(Sars) and the client(Taxpayer) start talking/communicating partially past each other. Its impossible to talk to the backend, so complaining in the media is one way of getting a selution, hoping they pick up on it, therefore my wording. Till the backend specialists are able to see through this, the problem will stick and cause some mayham for some that tick the right paths/boxes.
I see problems like these take up to year or more to get fixed properly. What makes it difficult is the backend may not initially see how this happens from their way of access to the systems, neither the call centres otr staff at offices you visit. Everybody just see his view from his access point. This is where you need a special kind of a guy in the backend and a special kind of a complainent and hope their thoughts meet up somewhere, it may actually cost them a lot of money to correct after identified.

Well let see how the new promised 2018 progress.
 
Is there a way to find out how much you're supposed to get back in total? I've seen two returns now for two different years - one reads -R5k and the other reads -R8k, but now I don't know if it's -R8k and then I had to pay in R3k and now it's -R5k and I dunno, I'm confused. For such a valuable system you'd think it would be slightly more user friendly.

Also, where the hell is the Work Page they keep referring to?

I would suggest requesting a STATEMENT OF ACCOUNT as this will show all historic returns and will reflect the balance either owed to you or by you from SARS.

[MENTION=228287]Toxxyc[/MENTION] The Income Tax Work Page is the "front page" on SARS efiling ,found under the RETURNS tab ,which shows your personal details , Income Tax Number, year of return etc and includes your ITR12 for the specific year you are filing.
 
Sigh still waiting on the medical aid to fix their bugger up. Though by the SARS calculations I'm not going to get back much again.

Considering you're getting back medical, which will be at least R3 636, does that mean your employer short-paid your PAYE for you to not get out much?
 
Yes that I'm aware of, thanks. I've managed to work out that bit, and I also got myself signed up for the Tax Compliance tab. Everything there is green, yet I still owe them some paperwork. This is what's confusing me. Not to mention I can't find the "statement of account" section anywhere. I Googled it and found it, finally, and it seems that it's a combined return, that one. I'm owed almost R14k by SARS - YAY!

PS: Department of Education should REALLY work into putting a few weeks of eFiling work into the Matrics' workload.

Nope by SARS owing me a little it really is a little it's close to R500 only. Last year I didn't get a cent out even with medical.

If you have medical aid, that 3 636 is the least you should be getting back, and that is if it's only you on medical aid. Or, does your employer pay it before you receive your salary?

It's 3 of us and the company pays it before I receive my salary. Though technically I am paying for it as it's off my CTC and all that jazz. I'm not sure why I'm not getting anything back from SARS but yeah their calculations are saying I'm only getting back R500, there are three other forms on there from when I did some section 14s of RA's as well.
Last year I have no clue just didn't get a cent back, whereas previous years I always got back something.

Edit: The MTC will effectively impact both the employer and the employee. This credit must be taken into account by the employer when calculating the amount of Employees’ Tax to be deducted from the employees’ remuneration.

Saw this now on SARS site, seems they take this into account when working with your renumeration. So essentially I'm getting the credit monthly.

Not too fussed about the timeline, happy to know when it's going to happen.

Have you received a letter saying the verification is complete and they have made no chances?

How long does the verification/audit take? I have submitted docs and they acknowledged receiving it
 
Just got off the phone with SARS, turns out I'm under audit, not verification as initially suspected. This explains why I haven't heard anything from them as yet. Now the long, long, long process of waiting begins. Luckily I have nothing to hide but I just know that they will do whatever they can to delay paying out my refund, that's just how they roll
