SARS E-Filing 2019/20

Looking now at my Sars, think they are really broke

I am now interest on their refund due

LOL

So after logging a complaint they immediately rejected my claim. Was expecting 30k and now they say is 7c. Something isn't right here.

Not sure what is going on at SARS. I filed my return back in October. Strange thing, I was never asked to submit any supporting documents or things like receipts, as they did with me every year. I also did not get an ITA34 notice. On eFiling it shows the return was filed and that is that.

Not sure how long I will have to wait to hear from them.

I just got a verification of assessment completion letter on the efiling portal. "Please note that no adjustment has been made to this assessment."
This was following the auditing request for supporting documentation in November/December.
As far as refund status goes, it still says:
"Refund Status: Your Income Tax refund is on hold due to your assessment being subject to audit for 2020 tax period(s)."

Does anyone know what happens next. Will they adjust things on their side or do I need to lodge any specific follow-up action to get these moneys?

Yeah, just wait a few days. Same happened to me...

Does anyone know when SARS e-Filing is going to sort out their flash player dependence now that it's no longer available for use?

"What will happen when Flash is no longer supported?
To clarify, the Adobe Flash Player will be disabled by default as of January 12, 2021. Any versions that are older than KB4561600 (which was released in June 2020) will be blocked and no longer function on their own. With Flash support ending, it will disappear from popular web browsers and websites. Sep 14, 2020"

When did you submit your docs and how long to get the verification letter? I’m on 23 working days. I called them and they will apparently escalate what ever that means

I think it was about 6 weeks ago. The money came in my my account today

My audit is eventually done ! Sjoe, what a few months ! Hope the payment (refund comes in quickly)

Just checked my ITA34 doc, payment date (31 Jan 2021)! Yah! What a story with sars this year. Submitted first in Oct, then late Dec again.

Glad “Caesar” is happy!

Maybe someone here can be of assistance.

My cousin has a disabled son and have been claiming for this for the last 8 years. On her 2019/2020 Tax return SARS objected to the letter from the geneticist from 3 years ago. Normally she has to submit this letter every 5 years.

She only found out late November that this was the reason for her R0 return and could only get a new letter from the doctor last week.

Her problem is that she files a dispute on e-filing and can upload the new letter, but the letter doesn't save. She went to SARS in Bellville this morning but they are closed.

Any tips on getting the letter loaded, or getting this dispute resolved? She spent hours on hold on the helpline and the SARS branch is currently closed.

She is coming over the weekend to see if I can help her with submitting a dispute on e-filing.

Whats the error if you try and upload supporting documents

Ok, dumb question.... dunno... I don't recall doing auto assessment last year (2020 tax year). For some reason I knew about it and kept on waiting to receive some kind of communication. Nothing.

Now it's January 2021 and I have not done my 2020 tax return. Eeekh!! Where do I start? I don't see any 2020 form for me when I login to the SARS-E-filing website. Can I still do it via e-filing?

As soon as the BBBEE contract has been awarded to sort the issue.
So never or until the BBBEE shell company outsources to a legitimate company but then it will be poorly implemented as the BBBEE company will pocket 90% of the cash meant to resolve the issue
