yes, you claim that back which will give you a pretty penny in return. Keep your medication receipts too. Money spent on panado, vitamins etc.

There is a very complicated formula used to calculate how much tax you get refunded on medical expenses. Unfortunately you will only get a fraction of that R18k back, if anything, depending on how much your total income was for the tax year. The formula is designed in such a way that the more you earned in the tax year, the less you will get refunded. Above a certain income threshold you will get nothing back.

Can concur that you will receive a fraction back. Incurred about 75k medical expenses in 2019, got less than 6k back from SARS

SARS is only trying to get all the fat bxstards to take care of themselves. Who will pay their tax when they die?

I pay in. Have some respect for the people that pay to keep your street lights on.
erm. If he gets back something, chances are that he is putting in more RA than you so good chances he pays more taxes than you/

Anyone managed to get there tax certificate from discovery yet? I don’t have option to download 2022 yet.

I see that on e-filing you can already see the 2022 option. Does that mean you start to file?
Probably safer to wait.

I have filled in the parts I have tax certificates for and the calculation tab works fine. But my information isn't filled in already like it has previous years.

Just curious, would I be receiving any tax refund if I changed jobs during the year? Surely I payed too much tax whilst only working for half of the tax period.
