SARS E-Filing 2021/22

I am trying to complete and ITR12 (individual) tax return for someone who became non-resident during the 2022 tax year, but the checkbox/button where you mark the taxpayer as ceasing to be resident is greyed out.

Rav01 is updated to reflect the taxpayer as non-resident.

Any ideas how to solve this?

so....i don't know what happened but the money is in my account and i don't remember accepting the auto assessment.
I don't usually use the mobile app, but i did this and maybe i accidentally accepted.
I didn't even check if the auto assessment is correct, and i still wanted to claim WFH.

is it going to be an issue now?

No,. you can just access your Efiling account and request to adjust the form, but you need to do it within the next 30 days-odd

Will i be likely to be extra audited because of this?
I don't really mind...just last year was annoying as i submitted documents and then asked to submit the same documents again.

Any WFH expenses is likely to get audited, so unfortunately, yes, but so far SARS have been pretty good with processing audits quickly. Just make sure you have your docs nicely organised. Summary of your home office expenses, clear indication of to office/house ratio, and invoices for any large expenses.

Still waiting for that refund...
SARS posted a media alert last week to say that refunds were delayed last week, but a lot of taxpayers have started receiving refunds this weekend and today. They said they should all be resolved this week.

I submitted docs on the 6th, but I missed one which was requested, so I did that on the 7th. Haven't heard anything back since. Red exclamation mark says I've been assessed and that there's a notice of assessment. Can't see it anywhere though. Refund status says it's on hold due to audit still.

ok thanks,
Last year I also claimed work from home, and after a long process (I think 4 month), I received my money,
I wonder if the process will be quicker this time.

Thanks, I didn't see that media alert, hopefully refunds will start flowing soon.

This is exactly what happened to my SO. See post #400

Ok thanks for that.
What did she do?

She pressed the "Request Return" button on the work page of the 2022 assessment, and then SARS issued a second return (version 2). So now there is a return that she can modify and submit later on once she's got all her documents together. Version 1 of the return says "Estimated return submitted by SARS".

No problem. I don't see any other way of modifying an auto-assessment that has already been automatically submitted to SARS, so hopefully that's the correct approach. It's pretty crazy that SARS is not even giving people an opportunity to view and correct their auto-assessments this year, they're just auto-submitting them without even giving people a chance to correct them.

Remember a few years ago submitting and getting request for documents verification. Then did a correction and changed one number by a rand and then resubmitted. Voila! ... request for document verification disappeared.

I submitted docs on 4th July and silence since then....

That happened to me as well 3 or 4 years ago. I had a R100 odd medical claim that was not paid out by medical aid, so it appeared on my medical aid certificate and was also automatically pulled into my tax return. My return was then marked for verification and SARS wanted the invoice AND proof of payment, all for a R100 expense claim. I could provide neither (lost the invoice AND I paid cash) so I corrected my return and removed the R100 from my return, and my new assessment came back with no verification required. The funny thing is, the way the medical aid credit formula works meant that the R100 wouldn't even have resulted in any refund due to me, so it was actually inconsequential from a monetary point of view whether the claim was included or not.

You will need to wait until they send a notification that your case has been allocated
