LOL. I wanna use Linux, cos it's hard. Anyway, each to their own :)

and look at the fools to stubborn to use windows trolling. mundane. inane. pathetic.

but then you too engrossed in your small and simple world to see i was JOKING and did offer two suggestions where as all you can you do is offer me your pseudo armchair intelligence. now that is soo expected. ;)

then ask for an extension. it works

No, they've already said there will be no individual extensions this year. I did ask again when I phoned to ask where my forms were, and they said nope, no extensions because you can do it via efiling.

They made it 5 December, not 21 November anymore.

tell them you dont have a computer. what they gonna do then?

the south african revenue services will cater for your needs to suit them.

Anyway.... my solution. Since you are too stubborn to use a real OS that deals with REAL WORLD scenarios, why dont you do it manually?
ROFL.. so PDF forms is what the "real world" uses? Funny.. I was quite sure that FNB uses HTML forms for online banking/registering.. Oh and just about every other reputable organisation that requires one to fill out online forms?

Or what, must I spend R1000+ for a copy of Windows plus some more money for the needed antivirus to ensure that the much better OS can actually go online without the worry that it will compromise the personal information I wish to transmit across the net? :p
Then spend a couple of hours setting it all up? :p
And that just to fill out my tax returns?
Does SARS have shares in Microsoft?
That is how they cater for EVERYONE, once you manage to poke your head out your Linux bubble? It does mean you cant use efiling :P
But as I pointed out much earlier, they discriminate against paper users by giving you much less time to fill out the forms. It's not fair of them to make a service which only works for some people and then add all sorts of benefits for them.

or alternatively go to an internet cafe.
Nope, most internet cafe's (and yes I have used them before) do not allow users to install software on their machines .. so unless they happen to have Acroreader installed you're out of luck. - This also shows how the system is unfair to those who might only be able to access the web from internet cafe's.

FYI redarrow.. dont know if it will help you.. but Google docs can save documents as PDF`s.. not sure if it allows you to edit them.
Thanks, but the problem is further enhanced in that Acroreader has to upload the filled out form back to the sarsefiling website as there is no manual "upload filled out form button" - Further entrenching my statement that the service is poorly designed.

then a friend with a freaking laptop or are you so childish that you base your friendships on the OS people use? Anyway i am only trying to lead you to a quick solution so you can go back to woteva you computer mechanics do when you lock yourself in your rooms with cheap pc's and even cheaper OSe's

Anyway, it seems SARS have chosen an Adobe web solution considering half their stuff is in Flex and Air and Flash.

And the reason why they use Adobe Forms (Acrobat) is due to the power of such forms considering their unique industry.

Then maybe you didn't read the thread very thoroughly?
I already reported success using Acroreader with my superior OS back on post #13, page 1 .. :p
All I'm complaining about now is the stupidity of the system they've chosen to use.
What's going to happen if Adobe closes down? No more support for strange PDF forms? Then suddenly they'd have to redesign their entire system.

Besides .. there are a lot more OS's in the world than Linux and Windows in case you didn't notice.

Congratulations :p you're the first poster so far who actually tried to come up with a reason as to why they might be using it..
However I don't buy that explanation, you're telling me that Adobe forms can do stuff not possible with HTML forms?
Revenue collection services are hardly a "unique" industry .. there's far too many of them in the world already. :p

I'm on windows too so that's another fail scored by halicom, I'm itching to go back to my safe Linux environment.
