SARS suffering from eFiling problems

SARS eFiling site down again; were only able to 5 returns today before a server error (we are a firm of accountants).

If only SARS would tell the truth and admit that the new system has problems. Capacity should not be a problem - they have overall usage statistics for a number of years.

Well if this is the case, how come i got back $$$ back last year, now this year i must pay in over 700. Nothing changed benefit wise on my salary.

Someone at your company or your payroll system sucks at tax then

Then its all calculated for you if your company does the deduction for you..

I'm just battling to find out how it works if my company contributes nothing, and knows nothing about my medical aid..

Fill in your medical aid details on the last page, the system will do the rest for you. When you request a calculation you will see it under deductions and you rebate will have gone up.

Has anyone received this error on efilling

Have the latest adobe installed and using firefiox, but even when trying to use chrome or anything else it still says this.

Nope, but I get another ADOBE issue when I'm trying to submit my objection. It tells me to make changes to the settings and yet still does not file the damn thing.

As with any site too many people accessing it at once causes problems.
Try booking a kulula or mango flight when they have a sale.
I guess they have an average but never expected this amount of people logging in on day 1 -Im to blame too i normally only submit august or so but need my refund early this year - Probably not the only one who had that idea

With the debt (payments)-to-disposable income at 75% for SA citizens, it make sense that everyone is chasing after every bit of cash they can get hold off.

I also got this

" Yesterday wholeday I spent on understanding new rules of SARS on Medical Aid tax deductable contributions and I found when it is showing "Zero" does not mean it is zero because of new rule tax credits, they are giving back in the form of Tax credits on the tab "RABATE"

what does mean is after you calculated your estimataion, the Rabate is including regular rebate + Medical aid return or discount amount example : your rebate is 17500 which consists of around 11000 regular rebate + rest of the amount of medical aid returns.

After filing or submitting, it is showing clear breakdown of Total Rebate ( Regular rebate + Medical Aid rebate or discount)

I did mine lastnight

I hope it is useful every one

Tax return amount for Medical Aid + other contributions now part of Rebate, you will clear breakdown of rebate ( how much for medical contributions) after filing (submitting)

Went to do mine. All the years I would get $$$ back. Now this time they say I owe.:wtf:, nothing has changed over the last 5 years.

Looks like the medical aid side has changed cause now it shows 0 on the calculator on the website.

I quickly checked the medical aid calculation this morning. It's quite a sneeky change that Pravin brought in last year that affects one only now.

In the past your MA contributions that exceeded your so-called capped amount went to the second part of the medical deduction calculation. Now only the portion of the MA contribution that exceeds 4 times your medical tax credit goes to the second part of the medical deduction calculation.

Ok, need some advice guys.

Going to file later. Essentially I pay R450 for medical aid, and the company pays an additional R450. Should I be capturing my R450 as seperate or would it already be included?

Does the R450 you pay reflect on your payslip?

If it does chances are it's already on your IRP5 form.

To make sure check that your total medical aid contributions including company and yours on the form is R10800

Are they paying you the R450 and then you pay the total R900 yourself? Then you would receive the tax invoice from your medical aid and populate all the fields accordingly.

Are they paying the entire amount of R900 on your behalf? Then it would already have been included in your IRP5.

R450 gets deducted from my payslip, so I guess I pay for it myself. I did receive a certificate form the medical aid. Does this mean I will get a refund or will I have to pay in more?
