Hi Guys

Hope u can help.

I want to upgrade my dstv from single view SD to HD pvr with extraview.

I want to minimize cable clutter so I considered satcr lnb.

However when I chatted to two separate installers they discouraged satcr in favour of a quad lnb setup.

They suggested a "Siamese" cable to run from the quad lnb to minimize cable clutter

Please advise.

I'm using a SATcr LNB with my HD PVR 2P, and 1110 (with xtraview). No issues so far. The SATcr LNB has one legacy port for an extra device. I'm sure the installers want to charge your for installation, where the single existing cable isn't much work. The siamese cable is still two cables bonded together.

As far as feedback in this and the MC forum goes, the SATcr LNB was only problematic on early software versions for the quad-tuner Pace HD-PVR. This has now been sorted so go for it. You will have to use the secondary output on the SATcr LNB to feed your Singleview Decoder so it is 2 cables minimum in any case that you will have to run.

A dual-LNB into a 6-way splitter will also work if you want to save on the cost of the SATcr. No need for a quad LNB.

+1. Well I guess you'd only need a 2x4 multiswitch if you have a 2 tuner HDPVR. A dual LNB just allows room for future expansion, will probably be cheaper & also has 2 cables from the dish

Today I did a DIY by upgrading from a 1110 to a HD PVR + 1110 with extraview. I used a SATCR and must say it was easy for somebody like me that doesn't really do this kind of stuff. I decided on the SATCR because it has less cables. So far everything is working 100%

Yeah. My big thing was my wife was going to kill me if I drill another hole in the wall (or make the current one bigger) :)

thanks everyone...I decided to go for the quad lnb route just in case I needed to add extraview to a third bedroom

You can't add a third xtraview option. It's point to point only, so only one primary and one secondary. Unless you pay an extra subscription.
