So last month i opened Standard bank account so people could eft to me and it would reflect instantly as it does with fnb.

So the guy paid me and i only got sms this morning from the bank , he did eft at my house last night on the app .

I got sms to say the money is in but does not show in my account. ( the sms was to say money is in my account , and last night sms was from his side saying he did the eft)

Does it really take this long from standard bank to standard bank ? FNB is always instant.

p.s i know its legit sms have verified it.

Fiance's inter-account transfers (cheque to credit) do not reflect instantly. SBSA is the worst

SBSA to SBSA is instant. I transfer between myself and my mum and the money reflects instantly. Maybe you ran into a system issue that caused the actual transfer to be delayed.

Sometimes transfers from SBSA to SBSA are not instant. I remember once I had to move all my money from my old account (In SBSA) to my student account (In SBSA) and that took like a whole day. Don't know why that happens now and then.

Its not instant. When I do an EFT to my wife (who in fact has a linked secondary account to mine) she only gets it the next day. Why its not instant in my case makes zero sense.

Same banker, branch, branch code, linked account.

SBSA is useless wrt to internal transfers, even after three days one time we had to call the bank and ask why money we had transferred between our own accounts hadn't cleared, for some or other reason the system didn't release it

An EFT from an SBSA transactional to SBSA transactional account only reflect immediately if the customer had previously made a EFT to that beneficiary.

*It's not a bug its a security feature*

Also noticed if you do the transfer before 4:30PM it appears immediately, if you do it after that time it only appears next morning, but the first transfer you do to someone takes a day, after that it should be instant.

according to the banks, when you enquire, same bank transfers can be instant to 24 hours.

Welcome to the crap that is Standard Bank. 24 hours you have to wait.

Even if you transfer from one of your bank accounts to another.

Standard bank are a pretty useless dinosaur.

Yeah SB has always been sssslllloooow.

Maybe complain about it? I complained to my current bank that I can't instantly move money between a specific combination of accounts easily and they rolled it out as a new feature shortly thereafter.

How do local prepaid electricity and other sites like Payfast work then, as they seem to be able to pick up the payment nearly always immediately if you EFT from SBSA to SBSA?

SBSA inter-account EFT payments are not instant and are generally worse over pay-day and especially worse if the pay-day week falls on a weekend. Amongst all the banks, SBSA is not able to do real-time same-bank account EFTs. I have never been able to understand why it can not be instant unless it is throttled via Internet Banking (in branch EFT deposits seem to be always instant).

I don't know where all of these comments are coming from...

I have been banking with them for 10 years and I have honestly never once had a case where inter-account transfers did not reflect immediately. The only cases where SBSA to SBSA did not reflect immediately is when it is a new beneficiary and the amount transferred is high.

+1 only thing that take some time is if you transfer into a credit card

Absa to absa is instant and even to other banks on the online website you can make selections for instant transactions as long as the transaction is not after 15:30
