I wonder what Marie Curie and the like would think of Ms Parson's dissertation. Jane Goodall should spend some time studying these idiots...they're a different species.
 
Even though the course syllabi contained no “gendered assumptions” about students or other overtly discriminatory implications, Parson writes, they display prejudice against women and minorities because they refuse to entertain the possibility that “scientific knowledge is subjective.”

Women Are Too Stupid to Use Logic

Throughout her dissertation, Parson assumes and asserts that women and minorities are uniquely challenged by the idea that science can provide objective information about the natural world. This is an unfair assumption, she says, because the concept of objectivity is too hard for women and minorities to understand. “[N]otions of absolute truth and a single reality” are “masculine,” she says, referring to poststructuralist feminist theory.

Instead of promoting the idea that knowledge is constructed by the student and dynamic, subject to change as it would in a more feminist view of knowledge, the syllabi reinforce the larger male-dominant view of knowledge as one that students acquire and use make [sic] the correct decision.

As a woman who is quite capable of using logic and comprehending the notion of absolute truth I'm incredibly offended by this. Is she really asserting that 'objective truth' is 'too hard' for women? Is she trying to set the entire women's movement back a hundred years? Women and minorities do not need her kind of feminism thank you very much. That is the kind of stupid sexist comment repeated by misogynists and biggotted morons.

Having thought about it, I actually think she could have a point, but she expressed herself badly and mistook scientific knowledge with the scientific method. Obviously doing away with science is stupid but it could be more afrocentric here in Africa, in what sort of things the scientific method is applied to. For example, we know things like homeopathy, reiki, acupuncture etc are mostly BS. It wasn't just decided or assumed to be BS though, there has been a lot of actual scientific research into these things which have led to the conclusion they are BS. The same cannot be said for African healing modalities, black magic, etc. These are just assumed to be BS without the required research. So perhaps a decolonised science would be one that scrutinized traditional African knowledge using the scientific method. While we can predict most of it will be BS, as was the case in Europe, some interesting and valuable insights might be gained here and there which would otherwise be missed

No consideration should be given to 99% of the *** witchdoctors come up with, since they just thumbsuck something and charge money for it (kind of like homeopathy yes). Do you propose we test the validity of raping a virgin for curing AIDS?

How is it decolonisation if the scientific method is used to scrutinize traditional African knowledge? The term decolonisation is unnecessary in this instance and simply tries to give the impression that something new/revolutionary to the way science is applied is being proposed.

it has already been done hundreds and thousands of hears ago when earlier civilisations used it. why must this be debunked again.

Feel free to waste your time (but not my money) demonstrating it but let's be realistic here... it's all BS.

Just like alchemy, druids, witches, goblins, and faires were all BS in the West, this is BS in Africa.
