Hi guys,

I have a question.

Between Big Boy scooters and Jonway scooters, what is the more reliable - more decent option to go for.

I chatted to a Jonway dealer and he has been very helpful and such.

Now I just chatted to a Big Boy fan boi and he bad mouths Jonway - which I expected.

Thanks!

Looking at the SPORTFLITE F35 150 From Big Boy and comparing it to the Jonway Galaktika 150.

I've been told they basically the same.

The F35 is R9000 yet the Galaktika is R9599.

Can someone help justify the differences in price or give advice as to why to buy A or B.

they all pretty mauch the same underneath
it comes down to who provides better service/warranty/price etc
or which one you like more

check out sascooters for some more info

Quality wise, I'd say they're about the same. What I would recommend is taking it to a decent mechanic right after you buy it. The mech needs to strip it down and rebuild it, basically. They need to replace all the bolts with decent stainless bolts and be sure to add some licktite. Once this is done, those little scooters can last a loooong time and will be very reliable.

Most of their problems stem from the assembly and quality control. Sort it out before you start riding and it'll do just fine. :)

This is basically the same story I got from everyone I asked.
They are basically the same engine, and the design is different, to look 'old' or to look 'new age' so that they sell.

One person tells me that riding from CPT CBD to Somerset West is not a good idea.
Yet, another dealer tells me that one of his staff members drives back and forth from Paarl to Montague Gardens every day with no issues.

I don't know who to believe anymore.

Anyways, I decided and ordered a Navy Blue Big Boy Scooter from the Sea Point branch and it arrives Tuesday ±

Now I just need to find a navy blue helmet! hahaha.

Any suggestions for a place where I can go that won't charge me a arm and a leg for a helmet?

OH! Another thing that bugs the crap outta me, especially when buying a new scooter, is that if you buy the scooter from the SEA POINT BIG BOYS, you can't take it to a MONTAGUE GARDENS dealership for a service, you have to keep taking it to the SEA POINT dealership.

So, I'm buying it from the Sea Point dealership, basically because of where I live, but if I move, and let's for argument say, the Montague Gardens dealership becomes my closest, I can't take it there.

A word of warning. For Big Bpy scooters, you need to fill out an online form to get your bike's warrenty to work. My sister bought one, and I only did it because I noticed the pamphlet which came with it. Apperently the salesmen don't tell you about that.

I'll find out about this and confirm with you.

Please make sure you get a full face helmet, biker jacket and some decent biker boots. Remember falling off a scooter at 60kph is just as bad as falling off a superbike at the same speed.

Go for a shark helmet or something similar which are quality and affordable. Don't skimp.

Overall be safe and enjoy the scooter.

I got a full face helmet and MX gloves.
The jacket, well, that can wait for now as I don't have the cash for it.
I plan to practice alot before hitting the road.

Eish....roasties ;)

I would also recommend an intermediate course to learn how to ride a scooter in traffic. Cars/taxis/buses/trucks hate you...They will go after you! There are quite a few difference between a scooter and a car so get onto the Think Bike forum for some tips and tricks.

Stay safe out there.

When you buy a new motorbike from Big Boy Scooters or Moto Mia, do they fill up the tank?

Also how long do they take to do the licensing and registration? When i asked them, i was told 2 to 3 working days.
But get this... Droomers in bellvile do their bikes in 2 hours!! Any 1 that can tell about their experiences when they first bought a bike from a dealer?

I'll be driving around my area, practising, not doing anything on the road till I'm feeling very confident and even then I might think twice.

I got it basically empty! Was sad about that!
R51 to fill it up, 5.2L :)

My lic and reg took a day.

10k scooter or 15k bike? Will it not be a steep curve getting the bike's drift?

10k - took a personal loan to buy it.
Paying back 17k (FNB)

Thanks. I got my bike the next day as well. When they delivered it, they told me there is only about a litre in it. I had to fill it up with R50 as well. The bike had to go back today, a starter or sparkplug problem apparently :(. Getting it back tomorrow.
