Screamer ADSL

Give Screamer a bit of a fighting chance. I know it's been like this for 2 days already (Well with me anyway) but DC is still having major issues and i don't quite like any of the two right now.

Perhaps I should let me Afrihost account do the work tonight :D

Gee ga!things have grinded to sudden halt. Like 0.5kb download rate. Wow.

It seems that many of us are experiencing problems with our screamer accounts. Can you atleast admit that there is a problem on your side and tell us whether you guys are busy sorting it out? that way we know what is going on

trying to download some pics sent to me via email and download speed is 3kb-6kb per second! this is unreal!
anyone else having this problem?
 
Still dead as a mule.

Hopefully we get feedback today. I refuse to pay for stuff that doesn't work.

i think people are starting to leave screamer and go elsewhere...
maybe i'll do the same if my connected speeds aren't improved soon

It is strange isnt it. The funny thing here is (and I saw your post at around 5:30am) I managed to connect to Screamer at about 1am this morning - and downloaded almost 1.3g of data upto around 10:30am. This works out at close to 124mb an hour which is not too shabby - when I compare this with my GConnect and Afrihost accounts where I do a max of 140mb an hour.

After 10:30 it has all gone downhill for me - now I cant even access my newsreader.

The thing is I am a bit dissatisfied as I leave stuff to download and then come home to find out that nothing has happened. However to be fair, I have downloaded to 8.5 gigs since the start of January - so I shouldnt complain too much.

Or should I be?

I am. I just logged a ticket on the screamer web site. Lets see if anything comes from that. I dont have the the time to phone their support number.

I know for a fact DC is still up to cr@p. Because i signed on this morning after Screamer being on a total zero kb rate and the torrents we're going at like 2-3kb.

Screamer was good this morning but then it died again.

And it's still dead....

Funny you say that. I was thinking the opposite. Right throughout the early and mid part of December whilst I was with DC, I checked out the screamer thread and to me it seemed that things were all hunky dory.

Howzit even mentioned that they had stopped accepting accounts. Next thing they were accepting applications and they had a backlog - which they hoped they would get my acct details to me in time for 1 Jan (I didnt want to waste the public holiday).

So my opinion is that alot of people joined screamer.
 
Monumentally bad service

I started using Screamer on Monday...what unbelievably bad service.

Speeds are rubbish - just browsing a simple site like Facebook takes ages. Lets not even mention torrents. I switch back to my Afrihost account and it is 10 times faster.

I have two questions:

1. - How the heck does one get hold of a human being at Screamer? No one ever answers the phone; no one responds to emails.

2. - Does anyone know how I could go about cancelling my account? I can't get hold of them to find out! (I presume it involves faxing a form which I can't get hold of because no one answers the phone or responds to emails)

Of course, they need a "calendar month's" notice so my misfortune is being stuck with them till the end of Feb.

Any advice would be appreciated

Yea i have similar feelings at the moment. I've manged to download ALOT, which is good, but the service is up and down like a yo-yo. In fact mine is completely dead right now...

Basically it feels like i need to babysit my connection all the time. So one way i get alot of data for relatively cheap, but it is definitely not a "always on" connection.

Using Telkom ISP right now as it's the only thing that seems to be consistently online. Screamer it seems every few hours it goes down, then up again..all day long.

You are right re the babysitting part. The problem for me is that I set which connection I want to use before I head to work and schedule my downloads. So if it doesnt work, then I have lost effectively 12 hours.

With the above in mind: anyone aware of software that I can use to control my home pc using my work one - so I can change the PPPOE connection as and when I want to?

where is howzit at a time like this an their support?!?!
