Screamer ADSL

indeed, no problems with speeds over here. limited my torrent to 10kb/s, while the http rapidshare downloading is flying in at 29kb/s. No problems indeed. For now.

For the extra R 100 I paid vs the digichilli account - its been worth it.
what do you guys think?

I am watching the DC thread as well. And I will be watching what the other providers bring to the market soon. But so far Screamer wasn't bad for me. Yes, it's slow some days (the weekend, for example), but in general it's quite usable for the price I pay.

There are a few things I am unhappy with, but I will address them via Screamer support later this week. None of it is really a deal-killer for me.

I know I am not supposed to talk quantity when talking about an uncapped account, but since the afternoon of the 3rd I have, according to the Screamer usage tool, downloaded 13.5 GB and uploaded 2.3 GB.

Well i got zip out of DC when i tried using them. With Screamer, while it's been up and down, i've still managed 13GB so far. So for my R400 i've basically paid R30 p/GB so far (and it's only the 11th) . Which mean i'm already at the "break-even" point where if i say went to Afrihost with their R29 p/GB special i would've hit my cap right about now.

If my file is complete when I get back to my 512 line PC, I will be so stoked. And if it maintains that speed.... will have to get a bigger HDD or two! I worked out that last month I paid a little over R10 /gig. So ja its ok.. I guess....

trying to download a ps3 update. speed is averaging 10kbps and it is estimated to be completed in 4 hours! and the total size of the update is 164mb!
pathetic...

Last night my downloads averaged 160 - 170mb per hour. And they are still going at the same speed. So from 00H00 to 07H00 I have pulled 1.1gig down. And from 15H00 yesterday up to 00H00 I pulled 1.5gig.

Thats OK with me ;) :)

Been a good day!!!

What's your line speed and package speed?

Ja I thought that was a bit fast for 384k. Are 384k users finding Screamer to have improved? Do you get your full line speed?

Last 24 hours, yes. The last week it mine was crawling at 5-15 kBytes/sec , the last day i've actually seen it hitting 40 kBytes/sec on a consistent basis [average prolly still in the 30-35 kBytes/sec] .

Also must add, i've been playing Everquest 2 on this connection combined with downloading from Steam and so far it works acceptably well, 400ms-600ms pings.

Hi,
I wonder if anybody can help:

Is there a particular reason why I can't download from rapidshare, megaupload, hotfile or any of those sites via screamer? Is there a work-around?

I only ask because other guys in this thread (who I assume are also with screamer) don't seem to be having this problem.

It's driving me nuts because I could have sworn that I downloaded from rapidshare the first couple of nights after switching from afrihost...

Being limited to direct downloads (I'm not bothering with torrents anymore) is severly limiting my options!
:(
Thanks in advance...
