Screamer ADSL

The others may be using premium (paid) accounts. Are you?

Off the top of my head, Screamer's funny NAT thing will screw up free downloading with those services (because the servers see only 1 IP for possibly hundreds of users). The reason it could have worked initially is fewer users on the service at that time.

So your work around is pay for premium accounts, or switch to another ISP that doesn't NAT. Not trying to plug their service but DigiChilli does not, though the throughput isn't exactly stunning over there atm.

I'm just a free user. From what I hear, signing up for a premium account isn't really worth it.

It's not a traffic issue... I often got that message saying no free slots for your country - try again in 10 minutes.

Now it tells me that my ip address is already downloading a file...

Not sure if I would switch to DigiChilli, though. It sounds to me like they're experiencing the same "growing pains" as screamer...

I Wonder if SAOL allows rapidshare dl's...
 
i have a rs premium account and i honnestly do feel its worth it. no waiting for your downloads, and full speed downloads. its amazing on my 4mb/s line and not so bad no my 384 kb/s either

That's because of the nat imo. It's probably worth it if you donwload a lot from RS, otherwise not. Not being able to use the free service does suck though.

Screamer are supposed to be remedying the NAT issue afaik, any more news on that?

Well that is the whole problem with NATt'ing . Everyone on Screamer basically gets the same IP . So every server "thinks" we are one and the same user, hence alot of services [like rapidshare] telling you you're already downloading.

So there's no direct way around it [on screamer anyway] , you can maybe try things like proxy-servers [basically going through another service and letting THAT service download from rapidshare]. Alternately, pay for premium or keep trying and hope you get a gap when no one [from screamer] is downloading from Rapidshare....

Any ISP that gives you a unique IP should work. Telkom for example gives you a unique IP everytime you connect.

Ja but Telkom does "transparent" proxying, RS free doesn't work there either. It does on Axxess afaik (not sure though 'cos they are SAIX resellers so maybe not), does on DC, Webafrica (did during the trial), and works on Afrihost.
 
Screamer account is Dead Again !!! 2.35kb/s...... and No Reply on Account cancellation......

Whats better:

OpenWeb Special 4mb after hours and 256kbps Office Hours No Rolling Threshold deal @ R1299

or

Axxess Express Uncapped 384kbps with Rolling Threshold and 4mb after hours @ R999

The Threshold thing worries me....
But looking at the top 10 users @ 798gb per month what the catch??

Any opinion?

Happy to spend +- R1k per month for good uncapped service

Between my Telkom 3GB and Screamer will work out the same cost... U cant just have 1 ISP account with Screamer....

You must also have a 4mb line to get that much I hope you know. You should probably search for Axxess and Openweb threads.
 
you keep the ADSL line via telkom, just dont use them as an ISP. Sign on with Screamer, put the logon details into your router and your off...
 
i just have one question, why screamer?? i bought an acc from the 2 months ago and till today i have downloading 2 gigs, there speeds are very bad and half the time i cant even connect, i left a message for them to cancel my account 3 weeks ago and they still have not phoned.....

3.8gig in 24hrs, fairly happy with that. Now I'm running out of stuff to download :p Theres only two series that I download and I'm up to date on those. "V" 2009 only comes back in march :( I have looked at the movies around... nothing really catches my eye at the moment. Damn Cant beleive it...

i am with digichilli and in a weekend i got 72gigs, screamer got me 525mb in a week
