Screamer Uncapped ADSL R399p/m

Oh sorry I sent you a messege already, didnt know you replied via post.

Thanks Howzit :)

I wonder what the big guns namely Mweb, Webafrica, Openweb and Axxess will do now??? R399 for uncapped 384K is more than affordable. And its runs through fibre network so latency should be very low

A months written(faxed) cancellation notice is required

i just phoned support as well, Bank Account Error: 1. When entering my debit order details. Couldn't give me an answer other than to tell me I should download the sign up form, fill it out and fax it back.

So I was like, "WTF? I don't have a fax"

And for the last 20 minutes I've been trying to find a pen... you realize we can do stuff online nowadays huh? ;)

If you need confirmation on debit orders and identity and stuff like that, there's a service who does this electronically for you...

But that doesn't get past the fact that I can't get past the debit order screen on your website...

Dont worry Acid, ive made up for your failure to register as a customer by faxing them the order form this morning on my behalf :D

lol, oh and I've left out the fact that I don't have a printer... so not only do I have to spend money on a printer, paper, ink AND a fax machine... I have to buy a pen too...

This is becoming a costly venture, figure I should give up. The universe (and their code) is telling me to not sign up...

Also, just while I'm bored:

ďż˝ Copyright 2009 - 2011 - Screamer Telecoms | Updated: 10/11/09 04:51:32 PM

Screamer should tell their programmers to use © for the copyright symbol (copy/pasting from word doesn't help much) else maybe try to give the web page UTF-8 in the meta tags instead of ISO....

And I'm pretty sure 2009-2011 is a mistake as well, perhaps the programmers should just use Year(Date()) for where the "2011" part is and hard set the company's start date (which I assume isn't 2009) as the start year won't ever change...

Unfortunately the ACB clearing system insists that someone has physically put pen to paper and will not accept anything else. In the long run it might be a bit of a pain signing a doc and sending it back but it is designed to protect you from over billing and other nasties.

Our app form checks that the bank acc no is correct before you submit it. If it is rejecting yours and you are 100% sure your branch and acc no is accurate then PM me the details and I will have it checked for you.

Ok, so if I have the Telkom 4MBps line I can still take the 384kbps option right, I will just be throttled to the 384Kbps.

So what will that gives us in terms of downloads, about 48 Kbytes per second max, this would mean running it non-stop for about 30 days we should be able to get roughly about 124GB per month. Am I right? :)

Now what do you thing about that?

Any after hours full speeds or are we going to get the true 384Kbps only and not a bit/byte more. How many concurrent sessions are allowed and also what backbone is this running on?

You're looking at around 38-43kb/s depending on line quality

Good questions raised here

I could email my ID to Afrihost btw, pm sending now

What?

384k connection should give you 384k not 4mb (which is your line speed)

Sorry man, i dont think u understood what i was saying... I was talking about line quality and speed. If you have a 4mb line and u sign up for a 384k uncapped and the account only runs at 384k, then you should get the maximum download rate of that 384k connection.

Ah now I understand.... yea... I guess that's true, because you're not limited to the line speed anymore. Would be interesting to see in practice.

Ok what am I missing is the line speed a 384kbits per second or 384kbytes per second.

This makes a big difference.

So what will I get with my Telkom 4mbps line?

Anyone using Screamer yet? :)

What about an answer to my previous questions. where is that Screamer representative.

I assume this can also be used on a Telkom WiMAX 512kb connection?

If you apply for a 384kbps (bits) line that is what you will be provisioned at on our service irrespective of your Telkom line speed.
We are using SAIX and Seacom bandwidth

I assume this can also be used on a Telkom WiMAX 512kb connection?

No it can't
