Screamer WiMax

still down - "extensive data loss" like this since Fri !!! any ideas anyone

these guys are taking us for a bunch of ................. they don't even answer phones , come on !!!!

I too am a client of screamer. Yes, all of this that has happened is not good and it is incredibly frustrating. What has happened is not something quick that can be sorted out. From what I can gather they are working really hard trying to get this all sorted. I am sure if they could have it fixed quicker they would. This can not be easy for them to deal with. I have had good service from them, especially when I got hold of them yesterday. Things go wrong in every industry, that is life and we just have to cope as best as we can.
It is a good idea, especially if you are in business to get back up Internet. I have two browsers open at the moment, I am using screamer when it's is up and another service provider when it is down).

If you are in business, a back up Internet is always a good idea. My place of work (which does not use screamer) goes down from time to time (more so than screamer), we have a 3G router as back up and we connect it to the server, it works perfectly fine as a back up and all of us have access, when it goes down. Back up's are important in business.

Give them a chance, what has happened is a mountain to fix and at least we know they will get it fixed and are working on it.

I appreciate that problems happen and that we should give them a chance - my major issue is we're being kept in the dark.

- the SMS on Friday says "critical failure on tower - no internet for weekend"
- On Monday we read "ICASA raids Screamer"
- On Monday Screamer respond saying "Yes ICASA was here and we used this as an opportunity to upgrade towers"
- On Tuesday SMS says "Still having technical difficulties - expect intermittent problems"

IF the SMS on friday had've said "down for weekend due to upgrades", I wouldn't be that suspicious. But, the messages are conflicted and not really transparent - a critical failure does not equal an upgrade.

I'm not unreasonable, I just expect a bit of honesty and maturity - don't over-promise and under-deliver. Rather just tell me what is going on, and realistically I'm going to be without a connection for the next xx days. It would save a lot of second-guessing, frustration and disappointment.

I fully agree with that. Currently all of us are unsure if we will still have a connection, and/or if we should be getting a temporary solution, or just plainly get a new provider.
The not knowing is the real issue here.

Yep... Now they don't answer any calls... The best is that when they did answer they kept saying that it had noting to do with Incasa they were just upgrading the hardware.. Now 1 week later and zero... Amobia can offer service..site check done.. if Screamer does not connect by Tomorrow... Amobia here we come....

Still can't connect - calls and emails still don't get answered, today I get an email from accounts relating to my monthly invoice that will go through via debit order, they still want my money but can't give me a service

i am and will demand a credit note for all this downtime !!!!!

i would really like to know if Tracee can connect ?

I hope I'm not jinxing myself, and everybody connected to the Fourways tower, by saying that.

I think the Wifi is running and up.. But Wimax is Down.. If only Screamer would answer the phones or reply to emails with some sort of info.. ETA.. How are we suppose to run a business on backup... Backup is also costing big time.. Please screamer.. give us some info....
 
I was told by one of the gentlemen(and i use that term loosely) that the Brentwood and Dawnview towers are up and running, but a technician needs to visit you to get the service running again(why i have no idea), maybe someone from screamer will read this eventually and explain to us how 8 days is a reasonable period of time to get a "critical failure" resolved, and as per their sms's....they apologise for the inconvenience, but have offered no compensation for the thousands of rand i have had to spend in order to keep my business running in the meantime....

Wake up Screamer and deal with your customers
 
Got thru to Screamer around 5pm - what a miracle ! Dalview skool3 Brakpan still down, the guy i spoke to noted his manager wants to know all the subscribers that connect to this tower, he wants to change something ............ will call me back tomorrow .......... time will tell -

u guys are lucky, u get sms to keep u posted, i get nothing !!!! no responses, no feedback blah blah blah
 
What is the use of having an SMS that tells you what you already know.....it is pathetic that we have to chase these guys, the "helpline" might as well have a recorded message for all the use they are....8 days of downtime is ridiculous...in fact....it is beyond ridiculous...they now expect us to sit around until they are ready to come and do whatever it is they need to do....if it is a polarity change, tehn why not just tell us that? If it is a different CPE then i can understand, and would have been far more understanding than i am right now....
 
Okay, I got through to them and this is what has transpired..

I connect to the Kyalami tower.
I logged onto the IDU, and saw that my signal is at roughly 60% at QAM64.
BUT, when I connect (not often), I cannot navigate to any websites, and drop packets at roughly 60%.

I was told by the support that a technician needs to come out and change my frequency.
What?

Anyway, if my frequency needs to be changed, des that mean that my Wimax will be changed to WIFI? If so, good luck (I have no WIFI coverage).
They told me they can't say when the technician will come out, but that they have a schedule.

So why won't they tell me when if they have a schedule?

This all smells very fishy, stalling comes to mind.

Anyway, I have spoken to a lawyer, and will consult again if not resolved in a week.
I have mailed Screamer my grievences, so I hope they read it - for their benefit.

This is nonescence. No communication from them. At all.

Pathetic. Very shoddy.

I thnk that Icasa has confiscated the equipment that we rely on, and Screamer is trying to cover up by saying they are busy with upgrades..

This is nonecense. I really am thinking of getting in contact with my lawyer. Totally unacceptable.

If you stay in fourways, I can't understand how it is that you have cover for nothing except screamer... :confused:

Basically in the same boat. So, my connection was fine with very few hassles. Untill the saga on the 6th.
I got a call logged, and waiting:(

Looks like it is time to investigate if another company can assist in a new connection, or move house:(
 
East Rand, Brakpan to be precise.
One of those where all around me everything is covered except my, and a few other complexes around me.

Well, I just checked, neotel now covers my area......:sick:
