sofar pretty happy still with screamer. had the odd disconnects but nothing to serious really.

Im just looking forward to a stable , decent latency to the wow-europe servers , its not so much the throughput but the latency, and from what ive heard i should have made this move a long time ago ..

lol , well sofar i am pretty happy playing wow these days :)
avg is baout 500ms can go as lot as 350ms.

so at last I can raid properly woooo.

is there a link for Bandwidth Monitor available so i can check what my usage is ?
or do i need to mail the helpdesk now and again to see what my bandwidth usage currently is.

Hi, new here. my estate is currently rolling out screamer wimax to every household in the estate. got my yesyerday, was pretty impressed, capped my 100mg, that is free every month. So I decided to sign up. took a 10Gb cap. Bough my self a Belkin N1 wireless router to use with my mac. here start the problems. if a coonect the alvarion unit to the belkin router it doesnt work, it needs settings that i dont have. but if i connect the Alvarion to the linksys router provided, then the linksys router to my belkin router, it works but the connection speed is horrible. ping 658ms on speedtest.net. connection gets fast for a couple seconds then and again, but just slow. whether i connect via wifi or ethernet to my belkin router. Could all this connections be slowing down the net? Can i use the belkin router directly with the alvarion? pls help if possible. I'm lost here. The tech said he can only come on monday. Wanted to test the net during the weekend to see how it is.

How's the connection if you bypass the router completely and plug cable directly into Alvarion and your PC? This way you'll at least figure out if the problem is with the Wimax connection or with your router setup.

Borrels - Well, if i run the wimax through the supplied linksys router the speed is ok, average ping is 150ms - 120ms. I get no internet if i plug the Alvarion straight to the Mac. So I'm guessing its the router to router problem.

anyone know where i can get the settings to setup the belkin router??? like the DNS addresses and stuff.

Howzit - is the screamer bandwidth monitor still in testing or available yet for all screamer users?

Hi

It is 99% ready for all clients. You should soon get a notification on how to access it.

I use a Belkin Router - as I recall it automatically configures the DNS when I connect (I don't recall the ip atm) . The only information you need is your PPPoE user name and password. If you are still struggling I will be happy to assist - just PM me and I will reply when I am back next week.

The last of my replies ... been awhile since I have been on the forum :)

I use Screamer to connect to the European servers. Using Gamemax (or similar proxy) I get somewhere between 240-350 ms latency.

Lately though I have suffered with disconnects as I have had an unusually large number of timeouts to the Bryanston tower. Screamer has acknowledged the problem (kudos) and are working on the problem, which I have will be corrected this week.

In summary: Screamer is having some teething problems as they expand their network - but I would take this any day over having to deal with a faceless organisation (no names mentioned). I have built up a good relationship with some of their senior resources and happily recommend Screamer to anyone that is tired of dealing with the incumbents.
