Screamer WiMax

Body Corporates. The joy

Well, my body corp is refusing to allow me to install the external equipment for WiMax. Looks like the WiFi order will go in next week, unless i can twist their arms.

The Wifi equipment is external too. Good luck ;)

I was told by one of the sales consultants the other day that they have a new wifi device that can be mounted inside the window. Am hoping that is the case.

The Dafster is correct. All WiFi connections are installed with an external aerial.

The device he was referring to is a WiMAX self install unit which we don't really promote because the Tech Dir does not allow them to be used further than 5Km's from a base station. However you are close enough to 2 base stations so we can use it.

I'm having problems my screamer connection in centurion.

Playing WoW normally is fine my ping is around 500-700ms. i can handle that, but as soon as i step into Ulduar 25 i'm looking at 1k+ ping. and then the DC's happen. its like there is no stability on my line.

I've emailed support and they are looking into it, and i for one hope they can fix it. screamer was really my only option for broadband here.

You sure it's not your realm? Big instances sometimes get launched on bad servers, unless other people in your raid aren't getting the same.

If not then do a speed test and make sure nothing else is happening on your line. WoW uses UDP and the traffic limiting hurts UDP packets big time if you're over utilising your line.

yeah its not my realm, the other players in the raid are fine. and usually the only thing other than wow that i have open is vent and the gtalk client.

Hi Xaos

Could you run a continual ping to our server before you breakout onto the internet and then change from your normal WOW game to Ulduar and see if there is a deterioration on our network. Please PM me the result as well as your login name.

Thanks

Sorry to High-Jack this thread.

Howzit do you read PMs ?

Any news regarding bulk roll-out in my complex ?

I don't get why body corporates are so stuck up. Check your rules/conditions carefully. If they allow satellite dishes for Dstv, there is no reason why WiMax receivers shouldn't be allowed.

Hey Borrels. They only allow 1 sat dish per block. We all share the dish and pay R60 per month for access to it. For the R60, the cable is run and dish maintained if damaged etc.

Is a really good deal for the company providing the service.

hehe that 1MB def makes a difference.

i have another query tho.

I see the out of bundle rate is 12c per MB

Driving down william nicole i see the charge there is 6c per MB.

So which is correct :)

Darksun, does the pamflet say 6c per meg, or 6c per minute. Spoke to the marketing lady and she insists it is 12c per meg (even if you are on the bundle). Also, the website keeps mentioning "Calls from 6c per minute), so not am a little confused.

Firstly you should be hovering at about 300-500ms in Dalaran, so there is a problem on your connection.

Ulduar boss encounters have a lot happening ... especially with a lot of AoE and this will stress your connection. Is anyone else using the connection at the same time as you? Try using Bandwidth Monitor http://www.rokario.com/products/bandmon/2-0/ to see how much you are downloading during a fight before you dc.

It is my experience that DCs occur under two conditions:
* You flood the downlink on certain fights (use www.speedtest.net to ensure that you are getting the downlink speed that you paid for. Choose a server in France for the test)
* There is a problem on Screamer's network.

ran a test tonight to neotels Bandwidth tester

Download Speed: 947 kbps (118.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 471 kbps (58.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

and then to speedtest.net to a server in France

This was done at about 20:30 tonight.

Obvioulsy local will be quicker. but hmm connection to international a wee bit slow.

Upload Speed: 482 kbps (60.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
