Screamer WiMax

Dunno what's going on here but my RX SNR is 1... Tower either dropped a sector or the radio is fried... Guess I'm waiting until tomorrow since people can't climb towers at night :wtf:
 
Still seem to be sitting on BPSK with almost no RX signal, but it is working alright somehow as long as I don't push alot of traffic the latency is fine.
 
Screamer, don't think you can screw us over because some of your customers don't have an alternative. After 6 months your internet has not improved a bit, in fact it got WORSE!

I know it is lekker to get rich, but please do it with a bit of dignity and GIVE THE CONSUMERS WHAT THEY PAY FOR!

What is so hard to fix a wireless network? How on earth can you NOT fix it within a year?? Either your employees are a bunch or retards or they won't be able to pay off their new cars if they did so. Which one is it? Please explain it to me.

I'm really tired, and believe me I WISH THERE WAS AN ALTERNATIVE but unfortunately there aint at the moment in my area.

Please explain to me what on earth is going on, and when are you going to fix your retarded network? And explain it to me here, don't send me a PM.
 
Hi Saidar

The base station we are running in Potch is one of the first we installed in the country and needed to be overhauled. The first phase was completed some weeks ago and this improved the signal to your flat (which Manny explained to you at the outset was in a very bad reception area as your cell phone signal will attest to, but because you have no other means of connecting to the internet we agreed to install there.).

The second phase will hopefully be undertaken this Thurs or Friday and we will then reasses your situation.

I have certainly noticed the improved signal quality, but the connection is still inconsistent, with the CPE having to be reset regularly. Howzit, can you give any information as to what aspects the second set of upgrades should address?
 
A lot of the cabling, lightning arrestors and some of the throughput core will be replaced.

telkom wouldnt provide me wimax in dsl covered area... :-( So joined cybersmart... :-) Later learnt of Kawuleza.com wifi ISP in cape town, but still starting out with limited coverage in the south, but good in the north

Just got off the phone with screamer tech support (congratz btw they answered first time and phoned me back:)) they seem to be having major problems with there upstream carrier ( i had to make him say Neotel, he didn't wanna say it was them) and thus allot of lines are being dropped/speeds very erratic,slow or line unusable.Latencies to the tower remain sub 80's which is normal but increase to around 400-500 ms and then from sreamer router to the 1000s This has been the case for me from Saturday at 12h00 according to my logs.

Have any of you guys been experiencing problems similar to this?

What is Screamer going to do in PMB now that Cisco has discontinued Navini Ripwave?

Hmm, not really it's been ok.. played a bit of battlefield and HoN havn't noticed anything.

We did have another issue with "one of our upstream providers" yesterday but all should be back to normal now.

Cisco are still supporting these base stations and we also have plently of CPE in stock so no issue at all.
 
I am currently interested in Screamer Wimax/Wifi as it is the only non-Telkom solution in my area. If I pay the once off rental, is it rental for 24 months or for as long as I am a customer? And are you guys relatively happy with Screamer? Does Screamer have any issues if your computer OS is Ubuntu - drivers etc?

It is a once off rental for as long as you are clients of Screamers
 
Hi Guys

There were performance issues on Neotel and Seacom yesterday and Seacom is still having problems but our clients that we route via Neotel should now be fine. We are doing what we can with our other upstream providers to minimise the Seacom problems.
 
Looks like Screamer is not in the running for spectrum allocation?
 
This is for all our Potch clients who have not read the notification regarding scheduled maintenanace today.

We will be doing the (hopefully) final part of our overhaul of the Potch base stations today from 12h30 to around 16h30. The base station you connect to might come on as early as 14h30 so keep checking from that time onwards.
