Lost and Confused...
Hi guys

Just a question, is it possible to convert a SD PVR dual-view installation to an HD PVR dual-view installation?

Basic summary of the installation:
- Dual LNB feeding into a SD PVR decoder
- RCA connecting first TV to decoder
- Coex cable feeds second TV in bedroom

Any idea if it can be done, and if so, how?

Low-cost would be brilliant!

TIA

No you can't. With the HD-PVR you can only view one feed.

You could of course look for a second hand 1131 or 1132 and hook it up to the HD-PVR

The question is not clear...

For HD = Unplug the SD PVR, plug in a HD PVR ... HDMI out for HD.

Woah, this fountain of knowledge rocks!

Ok, so I would need to:
- Get a multiswitch
- Send 4 cables from the LNB to the new HD PVR
- Connect HD PVR to TV1
- Send two cables to the old SD PVR
- Connect SD PVR to TV2

What am I missing guys?

The multiswitch comes with some cables.

Extraview requires you to setup one decoder as a primary and other as a secondary. The primary sends a "hearbeat signal" to the secondary via the RF between the two.

My Primary is my HD, secondary SD. My heartbeat goes from my SD RF out to my HD RF in. That heartbeat is a beesh! I have my decoders in the same cabinet and send all my cables from there out to the rest of the house. I am not sure how long the heartbeat cable can be. If you use the IR sender it needs a filter thingy. (I use remote blasters so I don't use the filter)

you missing heart beat cable from HDPVR to SDPVR

Which HD PVR you buying?
If its the old 4 tuner HDPVR (Record 2 watch one) then you need a 2X6 multi switch if one of the later models (record 1 wacth 1) a 2x4 multi switch
and AFAIK if you buying the Explora it comes with a multi switch in the box.

I think you've got the decoders mixed up :)

The SD-PVR needs 4 cables. And I'm assuming when you say "Buy HD-PVR" you're getting one from a store, in which case it will require 2 cables.

Also make sure you get a 2->6 multiswitch as you'll need 6 cables. And of course the heartbeat cable which connects the decoders.

Huh, well apologies then. I've never actually seen the back of one. They have four tuners though, right?
It has 3 tuners, there is an internal multiswitch which allows for only 2 LNB feeds at the back
2 tuners for viewing
1 tuner for recording and Catch Up / Box Office
