Seacom 2009

R267/Mbit/Month

This is an unmetered system, as its supposed to be, not a metered system as it is in southafrica at the moment.

Therefor, wholesale true uncapped services are:
1Mbit = R267
Add a realistic 12-15% markup: R300
Compare with current offerings i could quickly find:
Uncapped 1MB Fibre + Fixed IP (IS) R3500 and up.

4MB True unmetered = R1200

Thats just some ball park figures, but one must look at it as unmeatered, not on a per gb price....

Those pricing make sense, but remember there are more parties involved

Telkom/neotel/Vodacom Would take their 120-150% and since they onsell 10 of those sharing one account (contention ratio)

your Mweb/WA/openweb types wil take another 5-10%

so R1500 is probably closer to what we Should be getting. That is basically 8-10 times cheaper than current uncapped connections at 4Mbit for 10:1 contention ratio.

your higher speed capped connection should finally reach 20mbits and R10-20 per GB rates.

Realistic figures :(

yes u are correct with your estimates ?

No-one could have said it better !

Even if we are charged R10 a gig ( 15 times more than cost )

Like voice calls are charged ( 10 times more than cost )

Like sms's charged ( 10 times more than cost )

Like Mms is charged ( 10 times more than cost )

And if VodaCom & MTN promise speeds of 14.4mbps and we get 2mbps actual speeds.

I think that will be a major step forward for South African internet Users.

DXL - Mobile

Like sms's charged ( 10 times more than cost )

Hmmmm R300 for 500MB = 60c per MB. An SMS at 256Bytes = 4000 SMS'ses per
MB. The cost of each SMS = 0.015 CENTS.

cap

can't we have a limitless download??
I don't see why we have cap in SA
I heard the people from East countries, they only pay a certain a cheap mount per month and then enjoy limitless download
Why can't we??
