SEACOM is here!

Nice, now lets get rid of shaped :)
Yes please, that is the FIRST THING that needs to happen. No more differentiation between Shaped and Unshaped international bandwidth, because there's no longer a congestion requiring QoS!

Problem is, Shaped vs Unshaped has become a known feature in SA. Now that it is here we will never get rid of it. It is just such a convenient way to screw us out of more money

Same with caps, we wont move to uncapped, uncapped will always be a luxury item, simply because the average South African knows and understands about caps. Why would anyone give us uncapped, ever, when they can offer us "cheaper" capped products?

Today is a sad day in my opinion. They day that the internet in SA could have started improving were it not for greedy companies like notel and telscum.

nothing happened and nothing will for a long time still, my bill this month is still R2000 plus for uncapped throttled 512 crod, gonna be at least two years before anything changes in SA

Maybe I missed something, but how is this going to remove national backhaul bottlenecks as stated in the article?

Well done Seacom, great job. :)
Maybe i can watch my Skype video now with my Vodacom "supposed to be" HSDPA + E220 modem....:D

COngrats to the Seacom team...SA has entered a new era in its technological journey....all we ask for is that this benefit is passed onto us....."And God said let there be light.."

Hip Hip Horray!

To celebrate the launch of SEACOM, Neotel and CISCO have invited stakeholders and the media to a live demonstration of the fibre optic cable.

A huge and sincere heartfelt welcome to sunny South Africa! Great to have you here. We look forward to seeing you kick Telkom's fat oversized butt! :D

Now where is my invitation?

Congratulations Seacom. Now for the lower international latencies and bandwidth prices. Job well done.
