Seagate drive for laptop :(

If i remember correctly, hdds are supposedly rated to be able to withstand an impact of 350 G's before being rendered unusable and thats without a housing or protective casing. Someone clarify? My physics skills are stuck at my school days, but a fall from 2 meters shouldnt be able to reach that??

They can withstand those impacts when switched off and the heads are parked... Not when on, as ponder said.

Ah thanks, so that whole thing about being able to withstand 350 G's is strictly referring only to switched off drives with parked heads? How about those transcend "military tested" external HDD's?

Yes.
No, it's still a normal hard drive inside, the same applies as per a normal HDD answer above.
