Search-engine study says Microsoft Bing better than Google

That's just because more people use Yahoo than Google. Anything can be legitimized using statistics! But I am biased in favour of Google. I don't like Yahoo or Bing or Microsoft! So weh!

just remember someone sponsors these studies, microsft perhaps?

I must admit that addwords has made a mess of Google in the last couple of months.

I have on numerous occasions now failed to do successful searches on Google in the last 5-6 months landing only paid for addword sites which forced me to start using Yahoo and Bing to find what I'm looking for.

Google had features where you could turn off searches that included certain cites (shopping sites for example) and other search features. Try searching for a decent review on something, the one who paid the most gets the first return and is more than often a useless shopping site. They removed all this functionality and they have become more useless really fast.
The market is now starting to show cracks and if some other search engine can offer something ground breaking it will deal a severe blow to Google.

Quick survey, hands up if you already have the Microsoft official Bing search provider addon installed in a browser other than IE.

I absolutely hate Bing and I refuse to use it, if I am forced to use IE for any reason (like work mandated), I install the Google search provider addon in IE.

Well, ever since MS is using the bing search engine on their own site, you struggle to find what you looking for.

In Chinese, "bing" means to be ill or sick .... but I think this search-engine belongs in the hospital. :D

Hmmm

Yahoo was it in the mid 90s. I switched to Google when Yahoo stopped performing, perhaps its time to try bing though my trust for everything Microsoft is not particularly high. I dont expect them to deliver unbiased results, they've proven again and again that they aren't there for the consumer.

Is there a company out there thats has the best intentions for a customer? It is always about le money...

Bing US is great, I did test it with the help from a friend there and well there I would take it over google because of, while some results aren't ranked as well as they could have been, they have multiple sites with the correct data displayed on page 1. Though for top link, Google still provides the most relevant.
Sadly here, Bing is the biggest load of **** ever, so I stick with Google on Chrome or IE9.

It is very difficult to get any reviews on google. I also always get shopping sites. Maybe it is time to move to Bing. Theis isn't the first study that has said that Bing's results are more relevant than Google's.

i actually think Bing is going places. Try using it to find online videos and pictures - way more effective and accurate than google. My only problem atm with Bing is that I cant search local content. If I could do that then I would probably use both search engines and lean toward bing. As it is, i think most of us are just google fan boys and from the sounds of most posts, not many people are actually speaking from experience of using the engines- just what their favourite brand is. Also, no adverts on Bing - i like it.

those statistics don't take other factors into account and thus are flawed.

1) Most computer-illiterate people dont enter the website they want, into the address bar, but rather into the search engines search bar. They perform a search and click on the first result. Even if they visit the website everyday, they will repeat this ritual time and time again.

2) most computer illiterate people don't perform complex searches, simply because they don't know what the internet is capable of. My beauty therapist friend is not going to search for a torrent of the 1980 TV series Tour of duty.

That said, a higher percentage of computer-illiterate users use bing- simply because that is the default search engine on the default browser in windows.

Yeah it's been very annoying over the past few years. Any search with the word "review" in it brings up a bunch of of shopping sites, just because they have a Review tab on the page. Bing has been a bit more accurate in this regard.
