Nobody's going to sell their 3G card for +-R400.

If you give someone R400 for their card. They'll have to fork out +- R2000 more for an HSDPA card. Whereas if they go to Vodacom they'll just swop out your old card for a new one.

Remember Vodacom is still a business. If they give you R400 for your card they're not going to sell it at that price as they still have to recoup the original price of the hardware.

I'm in the jo'burg (Benoni) area, and also want a 3G card. I've emailed vodacom, and every single vodashop in this area, but without any response. Does anyone know if I could get a secondhand edge data card anywhere? Pls help me out?

The only cards that support EDGE are the new HSDPA ones.

I've asked again tonight what the status is with the refurbished 3G cards.

Just following up AGAIN :D
Any news on this v3g? I'm getting more an more keen by the day to get hold of one of these - anything to remove the need for a 1,5m USB cable and my phone rolling around while i'm trying to work... pretty please :)

This is not 'official' but I suspect these card will become available after the free swap-out period is over.

Otherwise you're going to see people buying 3G cards and try and swap them for HSDPA ones. It's probably easier to wait it out, than to put a whole process in place to catch this.

A friend of mine yesterday took out a 3G 500 contract for R280 per month and got a free Option 3G card. It was from the Vodashop in Tygervalley Mall.
