Problem is with all this, Vodacom with that R400 deal set a rather uncompetitive
trend regarding the cards. I paid over R2000 for my 3G card LESS than a year ago . Nowhere have i ever heard of something that depreciates more than half it's original value in 9-10 months. I believe new 3G cards still go for like R1700+ , how on earth do you go from that to R400 second hand ?

This is not a car with mileage and oil leaks and stuff. Anyhow, that's why i'm hanging on to my card and will probably by a HSDPA later on [and be stuck with 2 cards but at least i have a backup rather than getting next to nothing for it].

I pay top dollar!

if anyone wants to get rid of their old 3g card, i'm willing to pay R600 and collect... (jhb/pta/cape town area i'm in all three in various parts of the week)

plz msg me if interested

thanx

i apologise for my multiple msgs in one thread.. something went wonky with my opera/thread viewer when submitting....

oh, and i completely agree it is totally unfair what vodacom's offering for trade-in on older 3g's ...

hey

anyone in the durban area want to sell their 3G card? i'm also interested...

i'll collect etc.
PM me if you wanna sell

This is computer stuff... it depreciates before you even open the box ;) But seriously - i agree that the trade in price that Vodacom is offering is ludacris. Thats why i'm willing to offer ppl more for their modems. While i'd really like to get hold of one for R450 - i actually willing to pay a lot more. Just can't quite afford the current new price and i'd be willing to pay a more market related rate to someone who is planning to move up to HSDPA.

well is there anyone who works at a voda store?
that way they can buy the old 3G cards from the customers who want R400 and resell it to us who'll pay a bit more ;)

You'll be amazed at some of the schemes seen in the retail channel to 'exploit' various packages.

Sometimes there'll be a business rule that won't make sense to you, the end-user, but had to be put in place to block certain unexpected manipulations.

So how much is a new HSDPA card? I'm happy to pay a R400 "upgrade" fee from my Novatel U630 to the new Option HSDPA card. I tried it for a week and it's built in antenna is better than the Novatel with an external OEM antenna. And the download speed was excellent (had a problem with upload though).

So your offers of R450 - R600 needs to be compared to the cost of a new HSDPA card. If the card is say R1,700 less the upgrade fee of R400, then you need to offer in the R1,300 range.

I have a new UNLOCKED 3G card if interested..

Brand new Vodafone 3G card..unlocked..quad band..any decent offers..?Can use MTN or Vodacom.

New HSDPA card is R2799, I agree that the R400 trade in offered by Vodacom is insane but I guess a product is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

I would say fair price for a second hand card is R1200, simply because its R2000 new and with HSDPA available its "old" technology. But with Vodacom offering R400 for a 3G card the harsh reality is that everyone is going to loss out.

The real question here is how much Vodacom is ripping off the public.

Hi Folks

I have an Original VodaCom Elan PCI to PCMCIA adapter available if anybody is interested. Comes with the orignal driver CD. Reason I'm selling: Bought a 3G router and don't really need the adapter anymore.

PM me if anybody is interested. POA
