Second hand SSD's Yay or Nay?

Based on articles I've read on SSD lifetimes, if they have been kept in use, it is very, very rare for them to die suddenly, they usually give warnings long before the time.
Just buy something a bit more modern, 850/860. Also check Flashgear, got my SSD from him for relatively cheap, still going strong a bit over a year later without any problems.

Only thing you have to watch out for are no-name brand SSDs, stick with proper brands.

3) My recommendation is a Samsung 850/860 EVO, they come with 3 year warranty (so 2 if 1 year old) and they are highly rated drives.

The enterprise models are even better and come with 5yr warranty.

That doesn't really help. You haven't stated the maximum rated write cycles for any of your drives.

Each SSD has a limited write cycle. If you know how many write cycles its rated for, then you can work out how much of the drive's usable life is left.

My Samsung 960 EVO is rated for 200TB of written data. I've now written a total of 10.1TB, so the drive has roughly 95% of it's write cycle life remaining. Usage may vary, but that's considered a good yard stick.

You don't want to be buying a drive that's nearing the end of its rated write cycle.
