Sedans vs SUVs

It's a little difficult doing that when you're on the side of the road with a flat tyre, and you're staring at a muck-covered spare while you're wearing your smart clothes.

JHB people! I've got a picnic blanket 24/7 in the car, so can chuck that underneath if need be. But honestly now, how many flat tires do you get? I've had 2 in 10 years of driving.

Hah. Apart from theft, the annoyance is that when you do need to change a tyre, the one underneath the car is covered in dirt and road muck.

It's worth it in my books for the extra row of seats. I need them far more often than I need the spare.

Honda HR-V anyone? Just released, might be a bit pricey.

May I refer you to the other debate raging now about the cost of new cars ;)

R400 000 isn't afforable to the average family.

I remember when you could buy a house in George for R300 000 lol

I agree.

Recommended retail pricing for the newcomer is as follows:

HR-V 1.5 Comfort CVT R299 900

HR-V 1.8 Elegance CVT R354 900

Ja, I'll probably buy a 2015 model in 2020...that is ofcourse, if I can find one with low mileage......

Not so much a fan of the Ecosport ... cars made in India don't inspire my confidence, they just don't seem to have the right build quality even when they do have the right badge.

Now, the Ford Everest that's launching later this year ... *drools* I've got no clue how I'll ever afford it, but I'm pretty smitten with it.
surprise.... the Everest is also made India - it is sold in their local market as the Ford Eneavour, but exported worldwide as the Everest.

many South African car buyers will be (not so pleasantly surprised) when they find out that cars they thought were made especially in Japan or South Korea are actually exported to South Africa from India (currently or in the past):

Most cars now aren't made where their brands originate from. Look at the Toyota corolla, a staple of the Toyota brand. A large portion of it is made in durban south Africa.

The previous Everest was imported from Thailand and our current model is made here in South Africa and also exported.

I would also be very surprised if our XC90 and the Cr-V are made in India. Indian made trademark is cheap and nasty.
