Sedans vs SUVs

Is it just me, or do pre-owned sedans feel like a safer bet?

Why buy a sedan if you can get an estate version of the same car with carrying space that equals the average crossover?

Mostly because I don't think I've *ever* seen an Estate AMG in South Africa (nobody here is crazy enough to buy one - and that's saying something). Even if I did find one that some nutter had actually purchased (presumably the single demo model Mercedes-Benz imported for the advertising photographs), I'd sure as hell not touch it with a bargepole for reliability concerns :D

I'd even go with an AWD hatch like X1 - power and reliability (I don't Mercs tbh). But consider the Impreza although I'm not sure about bootspace. Can you guess why I recommend this car to you ;)

He went from a Hyundai Elantra to a Renault Duster. I'm hoping that the fuel usage will get better as the engine gets run in. The Duster seems slower to accelerate and handles worse.

Here is a bad update - the Duster won't get better. Check fully.com for more info.

Usually good to figure out if your car is also sold under a different name, because you can save on the list price and parts/service are the same. For example Nissan Livinia and Renault Stepway

.

If you've owned both, which do you prefer as your daily driver and why?

suv

they have been used to tow / launch speed boats i've had

huge amount of space available

Don't know where you got your info. The Sandero and Sandero Stepway, previous model, had the same engine as the Nissan NP200 bakkie.
I don't know what engine the the latest model has, but it's 900cc and an 1.2. So not an 1.6 as the Livina engine.

I mean the chassis also, not just engine. Don't know when we'll get the Nissan Terano but that was based off the Duster (not sure of exact details). Terano might be natural progression but will also be more expensive than Duster, but means Duster will be well supported in the future on the back of Terano's R&D and distribution network.

I get what your saying. Duster has the same chasis as the previous Qashqai. New Sandero and New Clio, same chasis.
The new Suzuki SX4 looks like the new Qashqai, I wonder...

Most people use the capabilities of their SUV how often - couple times a year, if that?
The equivalent sedan would be cheaper, more economical, more comfy - I'd go sedan. Or Station Wagon to be honest.
Now a Double Cab, I can see the value.

But to each their own.

Puhleeze you can't intimidate nobody on the road with your sedan. Getting into your oversized SUV and smearing your virtual phallus in the face of a BMW driver as violate his personal space is worth every penny.

You can do that with a smelly beetle too. Especially that high-pitched revving that sounds like a garbling emu.

Now this is confusing?

Fix It Again Tony and Suzuki coudnt be any more diffrent

Car companies get into bed with each other likes ot's a soap opera. Fiat builds the Ford Ka, and the old Alpha 3.2 engine in the 159 was developed by GM and used in the Captiva.

Then you have to drive an old smelly beetle. Who wants to do that? Plus your 'unit' does not automatically get bigger as you enter a beetle. Heeeey ladies...
