Selective memory from the Cell C CEO

He is doing nothing other than being a good CEO: maximize shareholder value. The way to do this at Cell C just happens to be the opposite of how to do it at Vodacom. I can't really hold a grudge as it is never the responsibility of the for profit company to take care of the consumer. It is the the responsibility of the regulator. Our one is like a meuwling kitten with a self esteem issue. That is where the problem lies.

You must not be selective in critiscing... The show was on the other feet for Alan but one must look at this holistically. Alan needs to be aggressive and take the fight to vodacom other nothing will be done for the end uset, the consumer. Vodacom has enough money to drag it feet on pricing and the end of the day its ppl like me who loose out.

So stuff you Hilton, your article is thoughless to the end user.

Writing an article like this points to a rather large amount of naivety. A comment like this as well.

AKC was CEO of vodacom, VC did very well, there was no need to cut any prices as there was no real competition. Yes vodacom have been doing us in since forever, but as CEO your job is to make money. Now he's at a smaller player and he has actually brought competition to the cellular world, why? Because he has to, to get a bigger market share.

It shows what kind of skills he's got, the fact that he can switch gear so quickly and effectively. But no, he does not have selective memory, he did what was best for Vodacom as Vodacom CEO, now he's doing what is best for Cell C, as Cell C's CEO.

I have no objections if they decide to invent a new sport that involves kicking their competitor's nuts around the cellular playing field.
 
Who cares about his memory? CellC's prices are much cheaper and that's all that matters right now.
 
In my book, AKC has redeemed himself at Cell C
So hands off the man and leave him to redefine a new set of rules, benefiting the consumer
 
I'm pretty sure AKC had his sight set on the Cell C CEO job years before he took the helm ... Talk about job security ... :). Fortunately he's doing it all to help us poor consumers ... I call BS .. And say Mastermind illuminati stuff :)
 
AKC hired Shameelperd, and most probably tought him a bit.

Tough if you are up against your mentor and former boss....
 
AKC will just claim that since he left VC the landscape has changed, and he is now the one who is changing it. Why? Partly because he has to and partly because the people who hired him at Cell C allow him to do it.

MyBB I think is too scared of pissing off advertisers. They are good for news, not real journalism.
 
Selective memory has been good for my pocket.:D I sincerely hope AKC has a severe bout of selective memory.:whistle:
 
AKC put SA telecom or even Africa telecom in the over - charged promblems we in today and now he wants to come back acting like and ambassador for the victims ................... ridiculous.
Has any of his family memebrs benefited from work/ contracts etc in Cell C as yet?

He had a fiduciary duty towards Vodacom and that is no longer a factor. Now it's to Cell C... in fact, the fact that he was the one who 'built' Vodacom makes it even better because he knows all the dirty tricks.

I think it's great and 100% natural that he's now outing Vodacom (himself in the past) for the benefit of his current employer (and thus indirectly, the consumer).

VC's strategy is reactive, they will exploit their customers for as long as they can. When real competition comes they will react by trying to introduce more innovative offers, in VC's case though this is falling far short up until now. You don't need to make your products accessible to the masses because you can make fortunes with criminal profit margins.

CellC's strategy is somewhat more proactive and innovative. The new offers aren't half arsed mickey mouse offers, it is exactly what people want to see, simple and affordable. 99c across the board, straight up 100 gives you 100 of what you want : MB's, minutes and sms's, and on top of that flexible too. Make the product accessible to the masses so you get more people signed up and in the process make just as much money through lower profit margins.

Because of all this AKC might have more freedom at CellC, let's hope it stays this way and they continue to improve their infrastructure at all levels.
