Hey guys,

Can anyone tell me where I can get more backlinks to my website? My meta tags are fine for SEO but I need some high quality backlinks.

Also, I am kind of a noob when it comes to SEO, so what else is essential when doing SEO? I know about meta tags and backlinks.. But what else can be done?

Any help will be appreciated.

Well you have a lot to learn about SEO and back links. That process does not work anymore, well not in the context of what you are asking - I can recommend an SEO rockstar with a Phd in the industry who will gladly explain in detail why and his fees are reasonable (well for someone with a Phd).

Here is a good article to push in the right direction:

http://www.business2community.com/o...combine-to-generate-quality-backlinks-0336976

* Link building is time consuming, and ongoing. It’s a process of analysis, relationship building, and attention-to-detail

This is what you really want to do but need an SEO specialist company and lots of cash.

* Paid link services and link exchanges are generally not worth the effort especially with today’s Google.

This is what you should not do - the industry is still undecided if you get penalized by google but with quick updates to their search engine algorithms, things change overnight.

well you don't GET backlinks. you build them. So you need to go out in the big world of the internet and do stuff like guest post comments with your url in it or using forum signatures you post on with the relevant keywords you want to rank for in your signature etc

Ive done quite a bit of SEO the past 3 years and havent come across original content on the internet before (not really). Those infographics has made quite a bit of a splash and is quite popular, but getting your website out there and not smeared with cheesy crap is quite a bit of work. I always thought those job ads for link builders was a bunch of bull**** until I realized how much effort it is to rank without backlinks and how the system is lobsided by people using link exchanges etc

The best way is to join forums that has your niche. build up a reputation. post a few links there. submit informative posts to blogs that cover your content with a link back (although most is rel=nofollow). Try to get people with blogs to review your site. Do the whole facebook/twitter/linkedin thing. submit to web directories like dmoz and if you feel creative write about your niche, post it on your site and submit that to article directories like ezine and do the whole squidoo thing.

Its a bit of an effort, but 2 hours a day over a few months and youll get some nice backlinks going thats not a bunch of crap that you have control over.

Just as a side note going back to the "get links", Ive found most are bots reposting your **** on their blogs etc. doesnt count much

Now you can believe Matt and think its quality original content. But its link juice at the end of the day and elbow-grease is the only way Ive found that works
