Seremane to lead DA?

Cape Town - Democratic Alliance national chairperson Joe Seremane on Monday announced he will stand for election as his party's new leader.

"I state it, unequivocally, right now, that I shall make myself available as candidate for the Democratic Alliance leader's vacancy at our coming congress in May this year," he told reporters in Cape Town.

Seremane is the second senior DA member to join the race to become the DA's new leader when Tony Leon steps down in May this year.

Last month, DA Eastern Cape Athol Trollip announced he was standing for the post.

Your title is incorrect. Add a question mark or change the title to indicate he is bidding for the leadership.

The headline is misleading because he will STAND for leadership NOT he will lead.
 
This is a very interesting development indeed. Can't wait to read and hear about the outcome if he is nominated to stand.
 
I've heard him in a couple of interviews on the radio.

Sometimes he's a little incoherent, lol, struggles to get the answers out. lol

Is he a leader, does he/can he, currently do anything that is considered proactive within the DA. No.

I dont want Helen to throw her job in as City boss, she far and above what Sermane is capable of.

I hope that the DA finds some other more suitable candidate, other than Sermane.

Please DA, dont vote for this guy, he typical of most polititians.

DA will never take over from ANC, not in my lifetime anyway.

So it doesnt matter who runs the DA, but it must be the best performer, and thats Helen.

Besides, must every party be lead by a black person - NO.

But if they want to win, a balck person leading the party will certainly help.
 
seremane is not someone who is a DA politician but rather someone who hates the anc for personal reasons
 
Sigh. If the DA could encourage more black voters to join them then they might be able to break the ANC's majority lock. To do this they'd need to banish the perception of the DA as "the white party". However, just throwing any black person into the leadership will not solve anything. Seremane may well be a good leader, but he is going to have to prove himself in the eyes of those who will see him as an AA appointment.

Electing a relative unknown to the seat will be a risky move, but I hope it pays off for the DA.

People wont vote for a party that is run by white people with a 'black face'.

Voters know this.

And besides, they probably loose a lot of votes. I for one will not vote for them if they get this puppet as the new leader.

The DA will never get more black votes the DA is the same as the old NP!
