No way. The original one was a fair candidate for best pie ever, but standards changed at Nanaga a long time ago. The last few lamb and mints I've had there I didn't even particularly feel like finishing. A sad imitation of what once was.Nanaga lamb and mint is easily the best pie on earth.
There was one at Silverstar. No good pies in the Roodepoort/West Rand area?
ThanksThere was one at Silverstar.
Not sure if it's still there but I bought some of their pies from the store around June.
Got very excited when I saw they're coming to Stellies and immediately showed my SO who asked me "Why are you so excited" and I just said "If only you knew how good these pies are"
I can confirm that the Midrand Shamrock outlet sells some great Shamrock pies. Not all are to my taste, but there is a good selection. The curry pies are by far my favourite, followed by snake & kidney, and some others. I have tried them all, bought over R1300 worth of frozen pies recently, froze them and baked them in my trusty Phillips Air Fryer. They are yummy. Not cheap at R25 a pie, but you pay for quality.
The best Pro-Am homemade pies (in a different league altogether) are without a doubt at Thamela Farmstall (32°53'56.15"S, 24°41'19.57"E) outside Jansenville, farmstall on the R75. They are filled with meaty goodness. Definitely worth taking a detour . You are not worthy, but very very welcome !
Btw, if you're looking for a great pie in the West Rand area there's a place in Randfontein called Fork 'n Pie.No good pies in the Roodepoort/West Rand area?
I'd say so yes, haven't tried the one in stellmark yet but if it is as good as those I had in EL then go for it. I must sample some from stellmark before I can offer real adviceWorth taking time out of my day and going to stelmark for one?
Well, that's a very unique flavour, I'll skip that one.

Please do, I'm eager to hear if it's the same as the OG EL piesOk, I'll maybe try one today if I get time and report back.

Maybe it's close to the Pnp, it used to be thereGoogle says they're here by stelmark but I don't see them. Closed down maybe.

I haven't been there in years to be honest.Kinda wish people would stop mentioning Nanaga so much. When were you last there? Years ago already the quality of their pies dropped through the floor. The last few lamb and mint pies I had there (previously my favourite pie in the world) were so lousy I wasn't motivated to finish them.
