Sharks Supporters Thread

He was never going to leave the Cheetahs before 2014 anyway. Spoke to him the other day about it.

Heyneke(before the Bok appointment) and the Bulls tried very hard to get him to Pretoria. Serious money involved if it happened.

A little birdie told me that he spent some time at The Sharks Academy before he made the Cheetahs IV. Care to confirm?

4.87%

That's my final answer...

We really should have bought Johan Goosen...

Sorry, the correct answer is 9.37% :(

And I doubt he will come to the Sharks as Lambie is there and Goosen might not fancy moving to wing or lock or somewhere out of position :D

Damn, now that would have been a great buy! And maybe Sias moving to the sharks is a valid idea, they will ten to one convert him into a tighthead prop.

Impossible. He was still at school when he played for the Cheetahs u/19 Currie Cup team.

He was then "given" a few months off because of a banned substance problem. And when he returned from that he went straight into the Currie Cup side. And to SuperRugby from there.

EDIT: If I remember correctly he was already contracted to the FSRU before his matric year at Grey College

Ah okay. I trust your knowledge on the subject better than the lying piece of schit whose had me perpetuating his lie even further. Thanks...:D

No worries. But please don't ever tell me what to write, that will just push the wrong buttons with me.

I was a supporter when we were still in the B section (and Reece-Edwards was still a hero to me). I will be a supporter always and that's why it pisses me off when I see the custodians of the team not doing their jobs correctly. I write incisively about it from time to time and I appreciate that that approach may annoy other supporters.

Right now my biggest problems with the team are the lack of inventiveness amongst the backs. I think the forwards are playing really well, but they seem to lack proper leadership. I think that John Smit should be brought back into the system as a sub-coach / motivator. Where'd he go anyway?

As a Bulls supporter, I know that we can be some of the most negative out there, but it helps.

Go read our site to see how negative the guys can become. But we know that they listen at everything. Sometimes even direct feedback is given by the union.

My point is that if supporters are too laid-back, teams suffer from it. Remember a few years back when Man United finished 'only' 3rd or 4th in the league? Their supporters didn't like it one bit, and they made it known. They were on the up again the next year, and have gone well since.

All I'm saying is that both negative and positive sides are necessary :) Good luck to the Sharks on Saturday.

:o I think I will be going Sharks on Superbru but supporting the Cheetahs.

I really hope that shars build on last week's game and that the "potential springboks" / springboks show that they are ready for international rugby come June.

I hope so too - still think Lambie should be a fullback, especially at the Boks, but hey, what do I know? Mvovo, he surely has to be our 11.

But yes, always hope the Cheetahs win vs everyone but the Bulls :) On the other hand, it really is better to see more SA sides in the top 6. So for this game, it's a win-win for me.

Sadly I don't believe the Bulls will win this weekend though :erm:

I have a serious issue with our leadership too. Daniels is not a captain. He is a very good player but not a good captain...

The problem we have as well, is that everyone's got that aura of John Smit, who was very good, but at the same time not that much better than our best captains we have at the moment.

Let's also not forget that John Smit was seen allround as a not-more-than-average captain before 2004.

I think Jacques Botes would be a good captain. Provided he can remain uninjured for longer than a month. I also like Kankowski, but he too might be a bit too brittle around the edges.

I agree with Botes but would prefer Kankowski. Remember Kankowski played a lot of rugby for a few years without serious injury...

The problem with him is that apparently he is the practical joker in the side, so I guess his team mates might not take him seriously as a captain.
