I wrote a detailed explanation of how to bypass both TV and Radio block SABC security, using a less secure SABC entrance as a start point, as well as how to bring in petrol undiscovered, and a couple of simple glass cutter methods to access their office - but I thought better of it and deleted it.
Some things shouldn't be written down :)
Suffice to say that IBurst are very very easily reachable, on both of their floors inside the Radio block, without any major effort..

Something of a long and unedited story...

Whilst on the now invisible subject of SABC security - what a mission - bad enough during daytime, but after 6pm (or probably 15:31:59) the Reception desk is closed, so you find out from wandering pedestrians that you need to double-back to the Security Office, which I did & filled in the form, so then I get given a post-it note with a number to dialup WBS - mind you not from the Security Office phone, no I had to go back to the deserted Reception desk & use the Uthingo phone. So I ended up in the Helpdesk queue, and I then had to tell Tyrone that he needed to call the Security Office on the other number on the post-it, and then I had to go back to the Security Office, and then I got a card to get past the sentry that guards the toilets - or is it the lifts :confused:.

Anyways, Dylan had pre-organised everything including the passout letter that baffled the security on my way out - I got what is a petch?, I thought it simplest to say darned if I know & I left feeling very positive.

1. What will iBurst be doing as their social responsibility?
 
Me hands Shaun another triple Bells, the whole of Pretoria is down, and nobody knows why. Not happy anymore.
 
Yep, as long as you dont bring in or take out stuff, security doesn't even stop you :D
 
ic - alongside the reception desk at radio block, is a long tunnel which links the radio and TV blocks. public mostly dont know about it, but its used by staff a lot. sometimes its easier to go up the tunnel, under the road and up stairs into TV block, and out via their security, if you're having grief exiting radio block security..

Reverse is also true, you can amble into TV block, then instead of going up escalators, just walk straight to the stairs by the lift at right, and go down, and walk along tunnel and come out inside radio block without having done radio block security..

Social engineering skills are good, often if you're carrying something, and you walk up ready with cellfone, keys (and modem) and dump em down in the box and step through the metal detectors as if its routine, you dont get stopped. You will get stopped if you clearly dont behave as if its all a pain and just routine. Gather your metal objects in hand as you approach the stepthru detector thing, and dump everything in the box and then step through and pick up everything swiftly and keep moving..

(I have a security card, which helps, so I know a variety of routes in - as well as where just about every smoking room inside SABC is. For what its worth, to the right of the 5fm studio, is a grubby looking passageway - the public smoking room is inside there, door on the right :)
 
ever wonder, if they find a dead person and can only identify him/her by their dental records.... how'd they know who his/her dentist was?

Actually I could've continued walking out without being challenged after the metal defector routine - all security were at the inbound metal defector, so I decided I will just give them the piss of paper & be on my way - that's when the :confused: expressions started, and I knew it was going to take 3..5mins :rolleyes:.

:cool: I could've used that when I was on hold in the WBS Helpdesk queue on from the Uthingo phone @ abandoned reception - I did have it on speaker tho...now if only they had similar phones in the smoking rooms...
 
Slimonthy - Sorry for mentioning any body living outside the whole wide world of Kempton, your light shows up green on the network status page, all of Pretoria is red. At least the page works.
 
ic - now you know, with whatever piece of paper you get given inside by Iburst, DONT offer it at security, stick it in pocket and amble on out - go 'oh ya sorry' if challenged and pull it out. Security love to find 'things to do' - so advice to all iburst customers walking out, try to avoid bothering security, and giving them things to do - you might get out of there much faster :)
