I'm currently setting up a site for an event photographer who wants to have orders placed online for print sales.

As he deals with 1000's of images from each event adding each image as a separate product is a tad time consuming ;)

For the generation of galleries we are using emAlbum which allows for pretty easy generation of galleries via FTP, but what we need is a method of taking orders based on a variety of options (quantity, size, mountings, etc..) and have this placed into a cart system.

Something similar to this:
http://www.dephotos.co.uk/album.html

Anyone got any ideas on the best way to go about this? It needs to have large traffic handling capabilities, Protx support and not be some flikr, shutterfly, etc addon.. (i.e not redirecting to a third party site)

Ta muchly

I'd start by looking at Coppermine and perhaps add-ons to it? I would even phone the guys at Coppermine and speak to them about options.

Search google for coppermine gallery. I believe the addy is http://coppermine.sf.net

It is Open Source and if I am not mistaken can be tailored for what you want to do. Just check it out in case. I am on local bandwidth atm so I cannot check for you.

I've used coppermine before, but the bloke I'm building the site for doesn't want to use it.

There must be some way of taking a form input and having it populate a shopping cart, but buggered if I can find it.

Have you tried Wikipedia? They usually have lists of software in catagories with their attributes. There must be something out there...
