After 18 years my wife is filing. Should I contest or just roll over to her unreasonable demands. If I fight the courts will still crucify me but it will be more satisfying to go down fighting than to just cave in. Some background, she never worked and had nothing when we married. She wants more than she needs to the extent that she will be significantly better off, having access to funds and lifestyle she never had when we were together. My attorney has advised that the courts are likely to award her something very close to this.

I want to contest but need some moral support from you guys (and gals). Maybe there is a glimmer of hope that the courts see matters differently or the attorney can make a persuasive case.

Do you have money to burn for the sake of contesting the divorce. Don't drag it out - settle up and move on.

Drag it out in court man if she is being unreasonable, make her an offer and tell her you are happy to drag it out for years in court.

I doubt she will want a long court battle. I am not sure what the problems have been but if you suspect cheating get a private detective on the case, if you can find she cheated on you then she is pretty screwed.

eish sorry to hear hey, from what I know contesting does drag the process on a bit but if you feel you got something to fight for then its up to you hey.

There's a good chance he'll end up paying her legal fees as well as his own.

No children. Grounds - 'irreconciliable differences'. We have fixed property and 'in-community'.

I could burn some but not a huge amount.

Without proof that she is specifically to blame for the breakdown of the marriage, she is entitled to half the monetary value of your combined estate - what is she demanding, and why?

How are you handling it? Do you want her back or is it better to let it go?
