It should be regulated to the extend that it prevents inconsiderate people forcing others to have to smell their vapor. But then again, we haven't banned farting in public....

IMO claims of secondary smoke effects from vaping are over hyped nonsense. Sitting in a car in traffic in my opinion are far worse.

I vape, I do it with consideration for others.

That article only seems to mention hazardous materials in the vapour. What percentage of the exhaled vape is water?

Whatever is in the air and maybe a tiny amount more from a water base glycerine solution (if your e-cig solution isn't propylene). Saying it's mostly water vapor while comparing to tobacco smoke is highly misleading. The water vapor you exhale isn't even condensing if it's not cold outside and dissolves into the atmosphere much more rapidly than the smoke from a vape cloud.

Sheesh you guys really think it's water clouds? XD

Yes. Not because of the nicotine though. I smoke and I find vaping just as gross as smoking cigarettes. Go do it out of the way where plumes of vape clouds don't wash over people.

Yes

No regulation on sales. That can just be open to anyone for both. Sin taxes is stupid.

The use should be the same as smoking. If you want to vape do it in a smoking area.

No, I thought it was unicorns and cotton-candy so you can understand my disappointment. :)

Yes, but only if it contains nicotine or other harmful chemicals, and it has a second-hand effect.

I have no idea what it consists of but I dislike the smell. Not that smoking is any better, it smells even worse.
I have to opposite reaction the smell is actually nice (depending on what flavour the guy is using)
However I do have a hate for the smell as well - it sometimes gives false hope.

THe Scenario isie and family have been invited to dinner - we get to the door and you get the aroma of some wonderful desert - your senses are overwhelmed - your expectations are up in the air what great meal is producing the wonderful aroma your taste buds are ready - and you open the door and see the vape cloud
FFS!

To what extent, if any, do you believe e-cigarettes should be regulated? Should they be treated as tobacco products, or should they enjoy a greater degree of latitude?

Will consumers benefit sufficiently from some quality control mechanisms being put in or are regulations just an excuse to give the tax man a higher cut?

EDIT: What about vapers? Should they be treated as smokers?
Yes "smoking: means deliberately drawing fumes into your lungs. The source of the fumes is irrelevant.

The issue most non-vapers have is that there are a small minority of vapers who are inconsiderate cvnts, who go out of their way to be a problem, whether it be with strong-smelling juice or blowing huge clouds into spaces of others.

Sort out this minority and leave the rest who are not bothersome alone.

It's not the same as smoking. If you think that, you need to educate yourself better on the subject.

I don't smoke, I have other vices. As long as it does not cause discomfort to others I don't see the problem. We all do things that shorten our lives - that part of living.

Vaping is already treated as smoking in the aviation industry.

The rest of the world might as well join the party.
Why? The only similarity between smoking and vaping is the way it looks when you are doing it.
I fully agree that neither smoking or vaping should be allowed in public, but they are not the same thing at all.

Vaping is worse than smoking, at least with smokers the cloud of smoke is smaller, vaping makes these massive clouds that you can't as easily avoid.
Ah yes, a cloud of known carcinogens is way better than a cloud of vegetable glycerin vapor.

The output size of smoking will be exactly the same, only less visible. Physics, bro.

I am a vaper and think ITO where you can vape should be regulated the same as smokers, but I'm not entirely on board with it being taxed in the same manner. But, this is government... They'll find any and every way to add to the coffers they pillage.
I speak under correction, but isn't making your own vape juice at home much easier and quicker than planting tobacco? That means a lot of people will circumvent paying the extortion tax

i smoked cigarettes for 28 years and then vaped for 4 years
Smokers/Vapers don't bother me the slightest
I used vaping to get off cigarettes, still doesn't answer the OP should vaping be treated as smoking?
I say no, I know some vapers that vape 0% nicotine, those candy cigarettes isn't real cigarettes no matter how much they look alike.

As a vaper I think it should be regulated in the same fashion as cigarettes in terms of where it can be used.

I of course don't want it taxed in the same fashion as cigarettes though..
