Something interesting caught my eye a while back, so I just had to get one. A Seiko Sports but with a "Moon Crater" effect on the dial. Sorry for the macro shot, but it's pretty hard to make out the detail without magnification. I'm curious as to how they made that cratering on the dial.

I really want the all PVD version of this but without the dive bezel, and that particular combination doesn't seem to be in SA.

For the other model/colour combos, I've noticed that the local importer is charging roughly double the international RRP but Topwatch is currently discounting heavily, bringing the cost in line with what it should be.

Yeah, if Topwatch has it then their price matches what you can land things for from Amazon, etc. But they discount because that stock is ageing; there's a Gen4 series now coming out so lets see how it goes.

I'm busy with a PVD version that'll be heavily modded, seeing as I have a spare movement and nice dials; the donor's case was beyond saving.

Some lesser known Germans which may be of interest.

Sinn 856 UTC and Damasko DC66. Objectively my best automatic watches and they do everything bar dress wear.

The steel on both is hardened and practically incapable of marking (‘tegimented’ submarine steel on the Sinn, ice-hardened on the Damasko), good AR coating, impeccable legibility, solid eta and valjoux movements. The Sinn also has drilled lugs and a slightly gimmicky copper sulphate capsule in the case to detect water ingress.

Have always liked the Sinn pieces.

Love Damasko. Was very close to buying a DC56.

Lusting after your 2254 and Flieger. The bronzo is tres cool also.
Yeah. Tough for me to make a call on my favourite between the 2254.50 and the explorer ii.
