Just look at what found its way home. Ordered Last week Tuesday and arrived this morning. It was impulsive as the one I wanted only became available that morning and most couriers had cancelled all their shipments from Russia. I ordered quick (sorry @SeRpEnT, I know you wanted bezels but timing was an issue) only to see DHL cancelling all shipments two hours later. I kinda gave up at that point till Friday, when I got the duties invoice from DHL, so I got some hope to see them soon. Still, somehow, these managed to make it through. Not only are they tough, but also tenacious. My wife hates them, so it looks like I'm married to them in any case
Anyway, quirky but interesting. And with the Rubel that tanked, they weren't expensive either. They're getting new straps as soon as the next Archer or Barton shipment comes in (two weeks I'd guess), so then I'll take some money shots. For now, here they are as they arrived.

Nice. The bracelets and bezels are usually the iffy part of these watches. Hollow link bracelets on most of them and way too shiny for my liking.
How much did you end up paying for DHL and the import duties etc?
Of the two, the cream one is my favourite. I see both have the date. Change the date by going past 12 - back to 9 and then past 12 again and repeat.

Now high on my wish list but it was already sold out everywhere and now obviously even more impossible to obtain.
And JUST as I finished posting this, another package arrived. They're both projects, albeit in a LOT better cosmetic condition than I thought; I'll not need to do anything externally to them as I initially planned to be honest. Even the crystals are 100%. The 007 needs a service and the 011 has the wrong bezel insert (which I ordered as you can see). I also got some genuine bracelets just for sh!ts, these aren't new but were refurbished. I'll try them on these watches but they'll likely get straps as well (I actually have something real funky on the way for the 011). Now, my SKX collection is complete, well mostly. Maybe look for a 013 but I'm still debating it as it's stupid expensive and needs more work than these.

Wow, that's some cheap shipping. I was on the verge of ordering last week due to the weak Rubel but was just too afraid of shipping problems or cancelations and never went ahead. Urgh. Kan myself nou skop. That's very very nice! There's two SE versions I'm looking for but after speaking to Meranom it doesn't seem like it'll be available anytime soon.
The shipping was R350 (was paying in Rubels and that tanked big time) and Duties and VAT was like R450 if I remember. DHL is sometimes more expensive but hell, they the one courier I never have issues with and they came through this time.
Yup, I figured out that 12-9 trick real quick when I set these![]()
Well, I spoke to Meranom. They can still ship, but shipping will be more expensive. That was just luck where the Rubel dropped but they didn't update the website yet. Let me know if there's something you want, although stock is now a serious issue; like I said there's an SE I want but it's unknown when these will be in stock.Wow, that's some cheap shipping. Thank you! That 011 is a genuinely lovely watch. It's pretty much what got me interested in the SKX's in the first place. But it took a lot of maneuvering to secure those two for sane prices. So all your watches is just for collection purposes? you don't sell? Some lovely watches! That orange one...![]()

A nice take on the marine chronometer style. The typeface seemed very familiar to me and I was wracking my battered brain to recall a similar style. It was some of the Timex Marlin reissues. Not identical but similar number styles.
Incidentally that led to the Timex page which South Africanises itself with ZAR pricing and claims free shipping but no indication on duties. Pricing doesn't look too bad on the face of it and there are some interesting lines, like those GMT bezel models which got hyped recently.
This seems cool. 41mm, solar quartz, blacked out, 100m water - very good beater specification:Oh stop it! So little money but so many watches tempting me... LOL.

And the gorgeous Marlin reissue (but will probably be too petite for me at 34mm but very suitable for those medallion man types who hang a loose Datejust off the wrist):
Just make sure you do give it sun occasionally. If it doesn't get sun, the lithium battery runs down and is poked. I have one here where it needs replacement; lucky the Citizen agents here has stock of those for now.View attachment 1261470
Citizen Eco-Drive - about 10 years old and never been opened so far. Absolutely brilliant watch. Rubber strap broke and I replaced it with a NATO strap, which is even better than the original.
Good point - wearing a fitbit nowadays, so it does not get out much...Just make sure you do give it sun occasionally. If it doesn't get sun, the lithium battery runs down and is poked. I have one here where it needs replacement; lucky the Citizen agents here has stock of those for now.
It's currently R280 excl VAT for the lithium cell, but since lithium can't be shipped by air anymore I get real nervous about stock levels with the agents. When their stock is done, I doubt there will be a reliable supply of these locally going forward. Also, bear in mind those cells have also been discontinued by Panasonic. So to avoid all that pain, just chuck it on the window sill a few days a month (apparently it'll run for 4 years on a charge but still)Good point - wearing a fitbit nowadays, so it does not get out much...
