I recently tried to sign up to Showmax and there are currently 3 payment options available. Paypal, Credit Card and Vouchers.
I tried to sign up with the 7 day free trial. You need to set up your payment method first. Fair enough.
I don't have a credit card, Paypal wouldn't accept my debit card so I couldn't use that as a payment method and the "vouchers" can only be used with e-bucks which I don't have/use either.
Where is an EFT or Debit order option? Why not use Payfast instead of Paypal?
I emailed support and the answer I got was they are working tirelessly on adding new payment methods. So no concrete answers as to when/if it would happen.
So went over to MTN VU. They do offer a Debit order option. Sign up and payment was easy. Went on my Android Box downloaded the APP and opened the App and error message. My Android device is not supported.
Works 100% on my PC, streams well, no issues. (I have a 10Mb ADSL). I wanted to use this to watch on my TV. I know I can play it on my tablet and cast to my TV but why would an Android TV box will not be supported makes no sense at all to me. (I have a MyGica)
Netflix is loaded as an App on my device which I then can't understand why MTN VU won't work, not sure if Showmax does/will.
Well that was my experience with these two and so far I am really unimpressed. Hopefully it'll get better with time.
