ShowMax hit hard by weak rand

Oh noes the weak rand is driving up prices oh noes how will we survive....blah blah...meh

Pshhht, no. What will happen is happen is another price increase followed by a new ShowMax Basic package. That is the Naspers way.
 
How many stories will we get like this on MyBB? We know the #$%$ing rand has tanked and **** from the US etc will be more expensive... We know this.
 
I'm getting my popcorn to sit and watch what Multichoice will do......
Even with the rand exchange rate today......Netflix......on a 4Mbps ADSL line, which can stream Netflix in HD, is cheaper than Multichoice
The only problem is the sport....but there is ways around that as well

All that will happen is the consumers will pay for the increase and continue to watch DSTV. Multichoice relies on the older folk who prefer their stable lifestyles.

This is actually very real... i reckon this is an option they are toying with at the moment. Partner with ISP's so that it is slightly cheaper than the standard DSTV packages. Could be wrong.

I forgot to add their free option which they'll rename to ShowMax Willie Esterhuizen

Not to mention what will happen when Netflix partners with a local ISP...

This is about ShowMax, not Multichoice.

Although Multichoice will face the same problem
 
The funny thing is that these content contracts aren't paid monthly. They pay X amount for X amount of years. They have already paid for the content on there now. Funny how the moment the rand tanks everyone jumps on it and try and convince everyone that they now need to charge more...

Multichoice is owned by Naspers
Showmax is owned by Naspers

All are separate companies from each other, with a shared parent company.

ShowMax isn't even South African company. It is developed in the Netherlands
Multichoice is very South African

Pray tell please!! I cant find anything that I can stream Sport to my TV that doesnt cost and arm and a leg. I'm using WD TV live media player.
 
I wish I could watch showmax... Imagine they had a Roku App and didn't expect people to watch tv on their cellphones or tablets..
