Solution is to use Kodi on Linux.

Yep, that happened later on. We've heard the app maker is considering fixing it.

As far as Showmax goes, I think Matt has said if there is enough interest he might update Showmax. Maybe someone need to open an issue here: https://github.com/matthuisman/slyguy.addons/issues/
If enough people chip in there he might consider it.
