Hi Everyone,

Is anyone here running showmax on their QNAP NAS? I was running it 100% a month or two back then all of a sudden it stopped working. At the same time I noticed that Chrome on my Android phone stopped working too, so I assumed there was some Chrome update that broke Showmax, but it has since to be fixed.

I have contacted Showmax support and because its not a "supported device" they don't care, even though this is Chrome just running on Linux.

I wanted to know if anyone else is having similar issues before I go tackle Showmax support again. I really dont want to spend money setting up another multimedia device when I should have a perfectly capable NAS.

Regards,
Cupis

Could be DRM issue. Some of the DRM features of flash aren't supported in Linux.

So the fact that it was working in linux was properly bug that was now fixed.

There is DRM software built into chrome that works with Showmax.

Could be a bug the fixed that is glitching with my system yes, but Chrome uses HTML 5 not flash for their streaming.

Digging into this a bit more is exactly along the line of Chevron's guess. I was comparing some components of my QNAP's chrome and my Windows Chrome and it looks like while Widevine is present, its a version old, which may not be compatible with Showmax's streaming. Netflix at least works.
